How to not make a sale
Sorry, DAZ, I won't be looking in any detail at the "More Freebie Madness" promo page. Who in the name of Grace Hopper designed that hideous monstrosity? I thought we'd had this argument before, about swooping and swirling thumbnails actively driving people away? Do we really need to have it again?
Very, very slightly on the non-negative side (I can't honestly call it "positive"), at least this one doesn't give me motion sickness, I just think it's downright luidicrous. Especially when I scrolled — once — down the page and the active mouseovers went berserk. :shut:
Edit: I just noticed, when I finally managed to scroll down past the whirling ninja throwing thumbnails of doom, that it doesn't matter — I already got all three offered freebies when they were originally released as weekly freebies.

True, true! The worst thing about that animated sale is that I can't even see it at my work-PC, because they block certain type of flash animation. So all I get is the big, blank purple screen...
So, because you are absolutely RIGHT, and I somewhat doubt that DAZ_Jared will post the sale in regular print today... :-P

Why, oh why do naïve programmers think that just because animations can be made, that they should be made?
Advertising animations lead the pack but there are lots of web thing-a-ma-jigs that annoy me. .
For example, I hate web gizmos that float and follow me down the page. They do not make my experience easier. On the contrary, they confuse the hell out of me with all that bouncing around the page. :-(.
What is taught in marketing schools these days? Or do they just get a degree for achieving high scores in some shoot-em-up computer game? 8-s
Yay! Re-freebies!
The ad is "glaring" and unpleasant to look at to say the least.
I think they're doing this sort of thing because browsers don't support the BLINK tag any more, and the people who do these things never figured out why browsers don't support the BLINK tag any more.
So we're only waiting for someone to write a plug-in that lets you shoot the frames that follow you down the page?
Works for me.
The thing with this "Buy new product get these items free" is that is really designed for non PC members. As a PC member, I already have all the stuff they were/are offering as freebies so I feel like I lose out on the offer...somewhat. How about offering other items free to PC members when they buy new releases? Ones that were not offered as Freebies (to PC members) when they first came out?
For me, the sales tend to be overcoloured, but I don't want to speak for the rest. As for the blinking, hovering and what-not... I've got AdBlock and NoScript when I want them .
I have Adblock and Noscript too and not only does the page work fine for me, I personally think it's very well made. Also a bit annoying to hear people once again finding something to complain about free items. I have all of them too, doesn't mean it's not a good sale or that it's driving away sales.
:sigh:
images in the Daz gallery in unviewable on android because of one of those popups that follow down the screen which is a pain as I enjoy browsing art on my Galaxy tab.
So far Daz store mostly works ok but I do need to turn it sideways to view the scrollable images on product pages.
many of those promo pages do not though, not checked this one, filtering shop by vendor etc impossible on touchscreen.
I honestly think less is more when it comes to these things as I often buy stuff on impulse on my android away from the computer as I am sure many do at work or elsewhere, not just on Daz, any commercial site needs to consider this, many people have phones etc handy and sale opportunities are sale opportunities.
