extreme close-ups

I need to do some extreme close ups in a scene I have containing hi-def textures. When the camera moves close enough, parts of the objects are no longer rendered, even though the camera is still technically "looking" at them -- i.e., DAZ thinks the lens is literally going through them.
I can deal with this by adjusting the focal length. Can I assign the focal length of a camera to the scroll bar on my mouse somehow so that I don't need to constantly select and deselect it?

Using the zoom (the magnifying glass icon) with the Right Mouse Button will change the focal length of the current camera.
