PhilW Carrara hairs on Genesis2F; how to?

Hi all, happy to post again.

I've tried to use Phil's hairs on a G2F figure and have not find an easy way. I have almost all of them and thought it was a great investment when I bought them. The problem I've found is they attach to a "model" not to an "actor" or a skullcap...

I've used a far fetched workaround parenting (not fitting) an invisible V4 to G2F as you can see here.

Is there another way to do it?

Thanks

Dynamic Hair is created onto an specific model and cannot be apply to other models. Using a Haircap or skullcap when created the dynamic hair does help but it does have its challenges for the person creating the hair.
I am currently working on a couple of dynamic hair sets for the Genesis 2 females. It maybe a couple of weeks before they get release.

    Regards

Thanks for your reply Ringo. I never understood why some hairs went to the model others to the head some had skullcaps and some had not. You say there are difficulties for the modeler working with the skullcap? Can you elaborate why? Which are the differences working one method or the other?

I have checked my bought hairs and have seen that all that had skullcaps work perfectly on Genesis, G2f and G2m simply dragging and dropping them on the "Actor" or on the head instances and those that applied directly to M4 and V4 model instance does not.

Based only on those I own I've made this list to help those who want to use old Carrara hairs on Daz market with the new Genesis figures:

Work with G, G2F and G2M both Drag and drop on "Actor" or drag and drop on head

5 time the ladies by Naomi
    Casual Chic by Naomi
    Diversity by Naomi
Men Only by Naomi only Flat Top and Razor Cut works, M4 Marcus and all the beards and mustaches do not
ModaCuts AtoE by DAZ 3D and AprilYSH
Short Unisex Hair great hair on my products list but not in the shop and with no read me file so I do not know who made it works
Fire and Ice by DAZ 3D, Naomi works
the five sample hairs that came with Carrara 7 work

Do not work on any of the Genesis neither on Actor nor in head cause they were applied to V4 or M4 model instance with no skullcap

    4 Ladies Only by Naomi
    V4 Dreadlocks (maybe a freebie)
Aiko Electric Hair (not in the shop anymore)
    Dynamic Desire Hair by 3DCelebrity
    Dynamic Romance Hair by 3DCelebrity
    Dynamic Venus Hair by 3DCelebrity
    Crista Hair by PhilW
    Paige Hair by PhilW
    Sidelong Hair by PhilW
    Skye Hair by PhilW

I repeat this list is based only on those I bought some time ago. 3DCelebrity's and PhilW's are so good that I did the workaround Showed on the image above; parenting the invisible V4 to the Genesis and applying the same pose to both figures then tweaking V4 head to make it match.

I have not tried other possibilities but I think that probably I can use a V4 head with no body parented to Genesis head...

The Carrara Dynamic Hair Room only allows you to have 1 object in the room to apply hair. When having a haircap the problem is that we cannot see the rest of the figures head and should to see how long hair needs to be shaped around it.

Take a look a this screen capture one that I am working on right now.
It is using a Hair cap the advantage is that it should work on all Genesis 2 female figures.

I found out what jerife did and made a list: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/30578/
I forgot to mention in that mail, that the hair is to put on the actor.

Yes, sorry, there is no real way to re-fit these to G2F - in fact you have come up with quite an ingenious solution! In addition to the issues that Ringo mentions, fitting hair direct to the V4 model ensured that it automatically followed any changes to the shape and size of the head, which would be much more difficult with a skull cap. Of course, the new technology behind Genesis (and Genesis 2) means that the skull cap method WILL now follow and fit well with any changes which are applied, thanks to AutoFit. I may look to do some hairs for G2F as I am finding I am using her more and more myself.

I see the problem now Ringo. I've tried to make hairs before and it is awful! Even combing them was a fight I don't want, lol. By the way your new hair is awesome, congrats, I love the detail and the "cut"

Pity I must live on recycling by now ;-)

So Genesis skullcaps can be fitted... Great to know it Phill, I will gladly see what you make :-)

Lol. When I find the time I will see how many loads a V4 can be removed from and still be called a V4 ;-P

You will probably find that as soon as you start to mess with the mesh, it will mess up where the hair grows...
