Question on the DAZ Free Character Promotion -- Does Purchasing a PC Plus subscription count for this promotion? If so, can I cancel the subscription I just purchased and re-purchase it with a Free Character?

    No. I think Cho observed that if you buy $50 worth of stuff, then you can put the free characters in your cart. they have to be in your cart along the 50 bucks worth of stuff for the discount to work.

    I just tried adding the membership and the base character into the cart, and it discounted the base character to zero.
    I am not sure if you can do the cancelling thing for the reason of the PC+ you would have to sort it out with sales department.

    Have cancelled my PC Plus, however the cancellation is effective next year. I will try to get the store to cancel the purchase and issue a refund.

    Yes membership is not normally refundable. FIle a help ticket is going to be the only way you will get an answer to this.

    Maybe tell support you forgot to add the free model and ask if they can add the one of your choice to your account manually, pointing them to the promo (given you purchased membership when promo was active). So no cancellation and refund would be neccessary.

    No can do. I purchased the membership a couple of days prior to the "Free Character" offer.

    I just re-purchased my PC Subscription with a "Free Character", to avoid "eligible dates" issues. Now I have a 2-yr PC subscription. However, I only want a 1yr subscription, so I can remain eligible for next year's renewal bonus. So it's just a matter of getting my original purchased cancelled and refunded.

    No word from DAZ, yet. I wonder what they're thinking...

    I don't want this to sound harsh, as it's certainly not meant that way, but you should have been more patient and waited to see what Daz said.
    It's bad luck that you missed the offer by a couple of days, but that's the way it is. IMO you haven't given Daz a proper chance to look into your situation, see what they can do and respond to you. So now, you have a recently purchased subscription that is in place for one year, because all you cancelled was the rebill. Then you purchase another subscription, that you don't want, giving you a two year subscription, just to get the free character.
    You've put yourself in a bit of a mess because you couldn't wait a little bit, causing them more work to sort out it all out for you.
    I do hope you get it sorted, but as it is all your own doing, they have every right to do nothing. I'd be curious to know how this turns out. :)

    Thanks IWaves. Whatever way I go, I have to rely on DAZ's response to my inquiry. I felt that getting the "Free Character" deal with a two-year subscription was the best of the undesirable outcomes. At least it shows them that my original request was sincere.

    DAZ cancelled my first PC Plus Purchase. (Thanks DAZ!!) However, they cancelled the entire purchase of $73.78. Further more, my subscription still expires in 2016, a little over two years from now. Until they straighten everything out, I am AHEAD 1 year of PC Plus Membership and $3.78!! I have pointed this out to them.

    It would be in DAZ's and our best interests if they listed the end dates of all special offers. I did my second PC Plus/Free Character purchase. because I was unsure when either offer would end, otherwise I would have waited longer for their response.

    As for end dates, that has been asked often, but they will not do it. The reason is that they say as long as people are insecure about the end date, they will buy rather earlier than later...

    I'm happy that it's started to get sorted for you, and you've done the decent thing by pointing out that you are now 'up' on what you've paid for.
    If you're really lucky maybe they'll leave it as it is, I doubt it, but you never know. Fingers crossed for you. ;)

    I suppose, but it sure can create havoc for their store personnel and us, their customers. I know because I'm one of the ones who create the havoc.

    The new PC Plus 6$ off of $18 will make things interesting. Now everyone will have to wonder -- Should I buy this item at the sale price now, or wait until I have $18 worth of items to purchase...

    No. That is not to say that DAZ might offer some incentive to annual members (especially those who still have time on their regular PC memberships) to get them into the PC Plus. Vouchers have gone the way of the Dodo so it would have to be a really good discount or some other offer.
