Dforce hair pulled too far

Does anyone know how to prevent a dforce hair from being pulled too far, unrealistically, when animating sudden jumping movements for example? I tried playing with the gravity tab but that doesn't solve much. And this is not specific to one dforce hair, but all the ones that I own seem to have the same issue. Any thoughts?

Hair does tend to fly around a bit when jumping, as you can see if you look at some track and field event videos. What doesn't look right in a still frame can look right in an animation, so it's hard to judge whether this is in fact a problem.
In any event, you can try reducing the gravity setting in Simulation environment.
