The tutorial is quite old, and the method in it doesn't work with converting from a cr2 or TriAx rigged figure (Gen 4, G1, G2) to a weight-mapped figure (G3, G8).  I've added a note to that effect to the tutorial.

Gorgeous! Braids are like my thing, my main model for my promo images uses them. It's the best look as per my taste regarding CG renders.
