Scars

So I'm trying to do a picture of Sarevok from Baldur's Gate...However, all the characters in BG are always portrayed with some type of facial scar, so I was wondering, what's the easiest way to do that?
I'm aware of the Layered Image Editor -- but no real idea how to use it. I also saw products specifically geared to making scars in the store, but they're all for Gen 4 (LIE wound pack)? Also, I could add scars in Photoshop... So does anyone have experience with adding scars to a character, and if so, what approach worked best for you? Any and all feedback is appreciated, and thanks in advance for your time.

Also, I'm going to use the Advanced Metal Shader to scratch and dent up his armor a bit -- it looks far too pristine.

Thanks!

Given your statements, I presume you're using Genesis. If so, the Gen 4 wounds pack will work. Genesis uses Gen 4 mats so you should have no problem using the Wounds set on a Genesis figure.

@Tramp - Yes, I should've mentioned that from the get-go. That's M5 Superhero, so definitely Genesis. I wasn't sure if the Gen4 LIE Wound Pack would work, but it sounds like it would, so I'm going to give it a go. Thanks! I'll post ol' Sarevok once he's more scarred and battle-weary.

Not sure if it helps, but Dariofish's Orcs come with a scar morph for Genesis that looks very similar.

Personally, I'd just paint the scar in using Photoshop or Gimp or whatever. That way, you can control exactly where and how the character is scarred; and you don't need to buy a scar/wound set you mostly need for this specific purpose (and bruises are really simple to paint in!). There's a number of tutorials online, but a scar is really relatively simple painting, I think. Also, you already have a reference :)

Using layered image editing right in Daz is possible, but personally, I find exact positioning a tad difficult with that approach.

@Atticus -- I wasn't aware of that product in the store, however, it looks really cool! And, it's tailor made for Genesis. I added it to my extensive wishlist. As an aside, I always wondered how someone could have a scar like that and *not* be blind -- but that's a separate subject.

@Tobias -- I checked out your deviantart profile. Your work is really *really* good, and more advanced than I am! I might still give the photoshop scar a try, since this is only a for fun project. But I despair of having my finished work looking anything near as good as yours. ;-) If I can't get that to look right, I think I'm going to go with the LIE Wound Pack.

I'll post an update after I've tried my hand at scarring his face and armor a bit. Thanks for all the feedback.

Now I'm blushing! Seriously, thank you :) No matter how much you learn, there's still a lot of room for improvement. I think everyone is his own worst critic...
