What Would You Make In A Perfect DAZ World?
There’s something I've always been curious to ask, just to hear how everyone here would respond… If you were a PA (whether you already are one or not) that lived in a perfect DAZ/Poser world where everything that was released sold well and you had the knowledge/skill and access to all major 3D applications to do so, what kinds of content would create?
I personally would focus on everyday clothing for both male and female, especially longer skirts and modest tops for the ladies. I would create more characters in pairings and sell them off to DAZ. I would particularly go out of my way to increase the range of “Stylized” characters. I’d have Aiko & Hiro as the main Anime/Manga duo, I’d create a separate couple as a Game genre (like how A5 was), a Pixar-esque couple (think 3DUniverse), and I’d hunt down pdxjims and buy Guy off him so he and Girl would become an active and official couple. I’d also have a hand in making a She-Freak 6 and an elegant elven/fairy [boy]friend for Giselle. ;)
So, how about you? :)

It's probably no surprise that I'd focus more on youth outfits, hairstyles, props and characters. Kids are under-represented in 3D works at the moment, and have been since Kids 4 faded into obscurity. It's always great to find those few poses or outfits which work well for youngsters, which I invariably snap up when given a chance.
Genesis has been a significant boost for using kids at least, since it's possible to use any outfit with decent enough results, but there's only a handful of skins which are appropriate for younger figures. Male children in particular have the tiniest number of skins, even for K4, and using an adult skin on them makes them look more like dwarves or hobbits than actual children.
So, in an ideal world the first thing I would create is new Genesis 2 characters designed for the Growing Up morphs, new skins for a variety of races, and outfits which can be worn by any generation. Oh, and a missile silo slash nuclear bunker. I find myself needing one of those at the moment :D
@ HeraldOfFire - I for one plan on doing a few characters based off Growing Up, EG bunch of kids and teens, just that I have to release some other stuff first. They always get in the way. But character sets based off that product is something I always wanted to release. I assisted with the Brothers and Sisters products, but there is plenty of space for more, including more stylized type characters:)
Well, some of these things are at least in my mind to maybe be a future product. But hey, why wait? Hexagon is a great value and can do everything you need for the modeling. Blender is also a great tool and it is free. You'll be left to use your favorite paint program to do the textures. You can have whatever you like and perhaps sell it in the store?
I would create amazing prop sets of beautiful places that would make Stonemason gasp with envy! A girl can wish huh? And then I would go on to get a couple of texture sets for characters out of my head where they currently reside because they are not yet "viable" with how things work. And then I might do some g2f clothes that are a bit on the naughty side because that is what I like to buy myself.
If I could model I would bring to 3d Brian Froud's fairy & goblin creatures (for Genesis 1). http://www.worldoffroud.com/
And I would give them crazy fairy houses but I would call them fairy bowers. https://www.fairywoodland.com/gallery.php
I see fairies as flighty creatures with a low attention span, but lovers of outdoors. They would create their abode with no real plan, something that just sort of grew out of forest litter; mud, stones and wood thrown together. And they would never fully finish their abode, to the point of maybe even missing a wall or two, enough to keep the rain off but allow a lot of sunlight in. And they would be more keen on filling their bower with all sorts of interesting baubles that might catch their eye.
shoes, shoes :) not sexy shoes alllll the time, Radii's! Nike shoes (hightops)
Supras too. , lookalikes anyways :P
If i could. but my skills there stop in daz studio
Oh those 'fairy bowers' are cute... love his talent but yes I like your name better!
In a perfect DAZ world I'd have the 3d clothing creation skills of Mec4D, Shifting_Images, Sickleyield and Aave Nainen all rolled into one incredible 3d dressmaking goddess. And I'd make all those historical outfits that live in my head.
I'm working on it. It could take some time, but I'm nothing if not optimistic. :)
(Edit: I don't mean to offend by naming some names and not others -- I have many heroes in the store and more than a few outfits I love by other vendors too, but I had to stop somewhere)
Well, I´d focus on hair !!!!
Hair that looks good and realistic in a high quality render. There are really not much hair products that do so. Most look like plastic or wire instead of natural hair. Especially if you are zooming a bit closer.
- A James-Bond-esque supervillain hideout
- A badly scarred character (like Hanako fom Katawa Shoujo for example)
- Something like the Severed Man for Genesis 2 Male and Female for some more violent swordfight scenes
- Decent wet maps for Genesis 2
Fantasy themed stuff mostly :)
and the most realistic food i could possibly make
I'd work on variety in hairstyles, especially for men. Short styles you see today on men, variety of hairlines, etc.
More variety on casual clothing, more texture expansion sets to give people more options.
If I had the skill, time, and tools, and didn't have to worry about whether or not it would sell...
I'd create whole fantasy civilizations, with clothing, hairstyles, weapons, tack (for critters), and buildings (complete environments, fully furnished with functioning doors, windows, drawers, etc) all clearly from the same culture. And multiples of each (especially the clothing and hair) from various classes too, from peasant to king. So that there was enough to completely represent 2-5 different people (of both genders) with residences and/or businesses from just about every social strata in the culture before even getting to alternate texture sets for the clothing and the buildings (of which there would be several, if appropriate to the culture), let alone kitbashing in more options with existing clothing/buildings.
Oh, and obviously, multiple character and critter sets for each culture too. :)
Why does it have to be a DAZ world, why not a perfect rendering world since DAZ is just a part of it. That said, it always amazes me how many that are in this community, can't use a modeling app, even on a basic level (I have 6 installed, 3DSMax, carrara, gmax, Milkshape, Blender, sketchup pro).
I already model things for myself, mostly props and some environments it's the rigging and such that keep me away from clothing. That and the fact I make more in game addons and other 3D related commissions outside this community than I probably could in this small market keep me from digging deep and learning the rigging aspects.
Lets see, if I could make anything effortlessly, what would I make for my renders, hmmmm. More skimpwear. Granted there is alot on the market, but the designs are pretty much the same and there is a whole world of ideas and styles not even touched. Same for heels. I own pretty much every sexy set of heels for V4 and since they don't autofit well, I am always looking for new ones for GF2 and quality releases are few and far between. Don;t need any male clothing, have enough for the amount of scenes i use males in. Don't do kids renders, at all, so no need for any kids items. Don't need everyday clothing as my idea of everyday is a bit more sexy than frumpy sweatpants around the house. Fantasy, sci fi clothing I like using, but the problem here is this, the amount of work involved in creating detailed designs, far outweighs the cost/time based on how often i would use it usually. I have to be able to justify the price of any purchase/time involved based on how much I might actually use it, not how much work went into it unfortunately.
For the longest time there wasn't really any quality military clothing or equipment, so i started making my own and now there are several in the market,, enough to kitbash some doable outfits. Can't say the same for western wear. I have wanted to do quality western scenes for quite a while, gunslinger for David and a handful of others, but it's surprising there isn't more quality western clothing and equipment addons or a need/desire for them.
I am with RCDeschene though, would love to see what "all" vendors would produce if everything sold well and items were based on creative ideas and not monetary based
Yeah. Hair is another big one. I'd want more hair that is curls, twists, braids, dreads, and fros. - but not designed to look like it comes out of a 70s action movie or something, rather like the people I see on the street.
I am working on that. I hope my quality level meets your expectations. I do have another pair of high heel sandals in the works. After that, I do have an idea for something a bit different, but not really an everyday shoe although more casual. I do absolutely guarantee that none of my shoes will hurt your feet! :) No blisters, no pain and no broken heels. LOL
In a perfect world, I would have built both cars properly and much better then they really are.
But then making poses is a lot more fun cause I get to do lots of pretty girl renders. i guess I will just live in the perfect world i am in then.
but modeling is fun.

Absolutely! So far, my main go-to vendors are AprilYSH and Valea with Silver's ToXic textures.
Wow! I'm really loving these responses! Keep them coming! :cheese:
Well, first off, I would make the missing bits that I need for a book cover which I can't build without them.
Which basically is the sawhorse and red wagon from the Oz books (with harness). I've kinda-sorta got the geometry for the sawhorse But it's just the base .obj export from Maya. Not rigged, UVed, or anything.
In my ideal world, the men's stuff would be just as popular as the women's.
If that were the case, I wouldn't even care too much on the item specifics!
Oh, and a cat in various breeds plus kittens.
And fibermesh hair.
I would first like a computer that is 10 times faster. Well, why stop there? 100 or 1000 times faster would be even better.
I want minions! Lots and lots of minions. They would have to be very well trained minions or at least teams that are really good at specific tasks. :) 100 teams of minions on 100 different computers! In a perfect world, those teams would not get into an argument with each other on how it should be done. My 10,000 minions would undoubtedly all be standing around pointing fingers at one another screaming in Minionese. Nevermind.... forget the minions.
I would make lots and lots of male anime style clothes
In a perfect Daz World... I would be a better coder than Casual and would made all Daz compatible with blender... Uhmm it's a BIG Dream no ? :p
If I could create content, I'd follow through on some of the generic-space-opera offerings to have a thematically unified set of stuff – starships, uniforms for both sexes (and multiple service branches), creature-creator presets, etc. Right now, such things are kind of piecemeal.
Hmm.. I'd go for some rare products that are hard to find out there. Probably skimpwear. More and more skimpwear. A full bunch of skimpwear for Victoria and all those other gals. As noone else would be doing it anymore, it would be a classic niche product and someone needs to save it from extinction. ^^

I second teh kittehs
I wish too DAZ would reach an agreement on 3D printing
Even if it was brokered through them
There is a figurine I dearly want of a departed friend.
Indeed, a Jaderail figurine would be lovely collectible for any DAZ artist.
Actually, didn't someone once say they wanted to make a Jaderail T-shirt?
