Grass ...

Wanting to do some good outdoor scenes, and contemplating my options for generating grass.

I'd like some opinions on different options / methods.

I've seen some posts about 'hair grass' O.o

I could use the replicator to make grass using some of the grass plant props from a couple of different products I've tracked down:

http://hivewire3d.com/indian-grass.html (this product used to be on Daz, is it legit that another store is now selling it?)
http://www.daz3d.com/stoney-creek
http://www.daz3d.com/forest-drive
http://www.daz3d.com/sales-promotions/country-lane
http://www.daz3d.com/replicator-grass-pack
And a few others...

What have people have the most success with?

Given that I'm looking for my first expansion into plants - what will give me the best mileage? For example products like Country Lane and Stoney Creek are looking very appealing because in addition to grass they have good tree variety.

In the long run I can see myself getting several plant expansions, but that first one, the leap in... that's a tough call because I want something I can go far with - but that also meets that initial critical need of good looking grass.

Or should I play with whatever 'hair grass' meant and create something?

Yes Lisa moved to Hive wire so legit
I find vertex grass better replicated than hair grass myself
Hair grass more use full for animation though
Both better than trans mapped grass as many of Lisa's are
Howies scenes have vertex grasses in them

    Ah thanks.
I don't recall seeing Hive Wire years back, so when it popped up on google with something that also was in the daz wiki, I wanted to be sure.

Howies various grass items... obviously its a matter of tastes over liking one over another, but anyone have opinions, or renders they've done with some.

The replicator grass pack from another person looks tempting although it is only grass. For Howies products - the best one for my needs always seems to be whichever one I clicked on last... /sigh. :)

You can never go wrong with a HowieFarkes scene
Can pull em apart and see how he does stuff too.

I think generally vertex grass is the way to go. Replicate a patch of grass rather than individual blades of grass, otherwise the replicator number need to be ridiculously high and that slows responsiveness to a crawl. You can either make your own, which is not difficult, use one of the products already mentioned, or Flink does some nice grass, weed and flower products which can work well.
