How do I establish Genesis 1 or Genesis 2 full size in DS4.6 before export it's .obj to Hexagon or S

Please, if anyone can tell me how to export Gen1/Gen2 or any other characters .obj format to Hexagon 2 or Silo, it will be of great help! For this I need to establish it's full size first in DS.

When I open up DS4.6, Gen1 automatically appears in the screen, I click on the character by "select all" and then export it as .obj. Maybe my .obj export menu settings are wrong? Both Wilmap and Patience55 said it's best to export the character either as Daz or Poser size, which I do! But when I import the .obj into both programs, the model is very tiny in the middle of the ground plane in both programs, almost like a dwarf standing on a huge floor! I prefer to work in these programs the same size as it was exported from DS and this is the problem I am sitting with ... to have the correct size!

How do I figure out size to export Gen1/2 at 100% size so it will appear correctly in the outside programs? I am only learning DS as well as Hexagon and Silo. I have made a jacket from Ghastly's resource kit but Patience55 and Wilmap suggested the character have to be used in the programs out of DS in order for me to fit it onto the character. I have steps to go on with the process in these programs but can't work on such a small figure. Wilmap (Wendy) said maybe I need to change format settings in Silo which she uses. But something tells me if the character is exported at a wrong size it can give problems. The fact that Gen1 is so small shows to me something is wrong with DS exported size, or am I wrong?

EDIT: Wendy, if you are reading this, I made a mistake saying that Daz format is also small. It's way too big! :blank: A part of Genesis1 appears in the top left corner as you will see in one of the attachments. Poser format export is the small figure in middle of plane.

Any help regarding the settings will be much appreciated! :-)

Laura

OBJ doesn't have an inherent scale - you have to know what your modeller uses as its base unit, and select (or create) a preset using that. I thought there was a Silo preset already, but if not it looks as if Silo - like many applications - uses the meter as its default unit so any preset that uses 1 unit=1m and leaves the axes alone should work (try the modo preset). It's important to use the same preset when importing your finished model back to DS.

Thank you for your input Richard, and in Hexagon 2.5.1.79 (version I use)? Do this version have the preset you refers to? I have also imported Gen1 into Hex. It seems ok to me but according to Patience55 it was also too tiny on the grid. See my images attached at this thread in Hexagon forum:

DS has a Hexagon preset - I would use that, or the Hexagon bridge (Send to hexagon in the File menu) and apply no scaling in the Hexagon import settings, so that you are working actual size. However, you can use any preset as long as you are consistent on both import and export (reversing the scale factor, of course - if you export at 10% you have to import at 1,000%) - it's just that if you use the right preset for the application you can take dimensions literally instead of scaling stuff by eey or having to adjust the values in your head.

Richard, thanks again - your help is much appreciated. I will try this tomorrow after a good night's rest! :)
