[Tire prints on morphable d-force ribbons] To make scenes with tire prints in the ground and snow.

Just have narrow planes (ribbons) with tire print textures (perhaps just shadows), and bend morphs to show curved vehicle paths.

Make the ribbons d-force so they conform to ground contours when dropped onto the ground.

  • While we're on the topic of tread prints, I am wondering if there could be tread prints from a bulldozer, like the ones that would come from the Bulldozer offered in the Shop?  And just to clarify, I am aware that there are no tread prints in the Bulldozer package offered in the Shop.

This is a very nice idea! Extend to include foot/hoof/paw prints?

Should be easy enough. find a tileable tread texture and create an alpha to go with it. the create a long plane and UVMap the tread texture to it. Then apply a dforce modifier to it and have it then follow the terrain when simmed.

  • Not sure how you'd get indents into the ground, but it seems possible to have a small ridge at the outer edges of the tyre print, then the tyre print being lower than that but still above the nominal ground level, all done with a displacement map. That could simulate it quite well.
