OT- Google weirdness- (Never mind...Semi-solved)
EDITED- Not solved but I found out this is occurring on certain versions of browsers to some people.
This is odd, but maybe someone here might know why this would occur…
Yesterday I was searching for reference images for ornate windows while on my Mac using Google’s image search… nothing unusual… it looks the same as it has since the last tweak…
Just to clarify, when you search for an image you get many (hundreds of results if there are that many) on one page, which you can just keep scrolling down to look at, and clicking on an image opens up a black framed “preview” box which shows a bigger image with view/link options…
Its been that way for quite a while… two or three years?
Anyway, I find a couple of images that answer my question, and go back to modeling… maybe two hours later I go back to check on what something else looks like and suddenly Google’s Image Search is different… more like it was three or so years ago… where the page only shows like maybe twenty or so thumbnails and clicking on the image takes you to the site… no preview and all the search options are on the left side of the screen margin, instead of the top…
I did not change anything or mess with any setting… and I even restarted the computer to see if it goes back…
Nada…
But, on my iPad everything is still “normal”...
Did something change at Google all of a sudden at 5pm ? Did this occur with anyone else?
I don’t see any obvious preference settings or tools that would allow me to change this back… unless I’m misinterpreting something (like when you see an option called “Inverse State Dynamics Flow View” which is actually the “back” button but named in an unnecessarily obtuse manner or the “Log out” button is an icon of a penguin… that kinda stuff)
Any thoughts or suggestions?... Any and all are greatly appreciated… and thanks in advance!
Edited to add- I did search Googles forums (but thats like searching random dumpsters for gold nuggets) before I posted this… and did Google and Bing the hell out this… but now after many searches using correct terms I found some leads by using bad english… apparently I’m not alone and this is happening to a lot of other people using a bunch of different OS/platforms/browsers… but some old browsers, some new… but it is something on google’s end, not a setting or preference change… I switched to Firefox and image search works properly there.
Not a fan of Firefox… sucks to edit bookmarks (on a mac)... but is always a good fallback browser.
So... you can probably ignore this or post cat pictures here now... whatever... read any good books lately?
Thanks and have a wonderfully delightful day.

there was a Russian Hack of Google images
was showing a car crash with an onlooker by a signpost saying stop in Russian
Russian hackers up to no good?
Nyet, I can not believe this... Besides, Russia says they don't exist... so we should believe them... right?
Maybe it was misguided internet gnomes with a grudge against Russia for some bad borscht they got...
I got an email from a Google Help thread I started yesterday (which by the way don't ever do unless you want to get 10,000 useless emails from vaguely related threads)... Google says they have received "some" complaints about this and they are looking into it... I suppose maybe it is "some" in scale with the population of the earth that uses Google... I also suppose the number of complaints will rise this weekend when more people get bored and use Google images to search for dancing hamsters or frying bacon pictures.
Today is International Bacon Day.
I don't think there is an International Dancing Hamster day though...
Who do I petition for that?
Bacon wrapped hamster in cilantro-garlic wasabi sauce...
I wonder what ever happened to Hamstergirl?
There used to be a member here who went by that handle...
I always pictured her as a caped hamster, crusading against injustice...
Sorta like Black Widow... only with weapons in her cheek pouches...
Wow... I need some coffee...
Well, do svidaniya comrade Wendy Loves Katz... I must go now, I need to be pootin sum coffee in my coffee maker...
Get it... pootin...
Putin... Russia...
