Updates for older items

Is there anyway to contact the vendors and ask if there is a possibility that they might update an item made for an older model, Say M or D3 so that it will work with M4? I have looked back through the earlier stuff, and there is so much stuff that I would like to use for my people now, but it seems no one makes any of this stuff anymore. One in particular is the King's court outfits. they are really cool looking, but are for gen 3...

If they are active on the forums you can PM them. However, I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope of items being updated from third generation to fourth at this stage.

What app are you using? Without knowing if you are using DS or Poser and which version of either app (or both in some cases) it's a bit harder to tell you what you might want to try.

If they were updated, its very unlikely that the update would be given away.

The wardrobe Wizard by PhilC has a standalone version, I think. Also, it comes with Poser (or at least it did with older versions). The nice thing about wardrobe wizard is that it is two-way for any two figures that you have supported, meaning that if you have M4 and the Freak, you can convert M4 clothes to the Freak and vice versa. Also, if you model your own mesh to fit a supported character, the wardrobe wizard will turn it into a rigged and conforming figure. On the other hand, you have to buy support for each figure that you want to work in wardrobe wizard, although many are grouped together. You should be able to find it by searching for PhilC and wardrobe wizard.

Icprncss, At the moment, I am using Daz 4.6 but I do have Poser pro 2014, just haven't gotten around to using it yet.
Pwiecek, I am not asking for a freebie, I am more than willing to pay for it, I just want something that works on my chosen figure.
To those who suggested Wardrobe Wizard or Cross Dresser (I haven't heard of this one before) I will check those out, thanks.

If you have poser pro, then you have wardrobe wizard. You don't have to buy the standalone. It would just be a matter of having the support for the specific figures that you want. PhilC has a good explanation of how to use it on his site.

Gilreaen, what figure are you aiming to get clothes for?

See, Genesis will be able to wear Generation 3 and 4 clothes, if you buy Generation 3 or 4 Shapes for Genesis.

Mainly we use Poser. Since you have Poser Pro 2014, you have several options. First and easiest is the above mentioned Wardrobe Wizard. It is now included with all versions of Poser since version 8. To convert clothing from M3 to M4, you will need to purchase the add ons for both M3 and M4. Add ons for WW can be found at PhilC.net. Before you make any purchases, have you purchased any version of WW and it's add on packs? I am asking because you may already own the data file for M3 without being aware of it.

Pro 2014 also comes with the fitting room that will allow you to refit any clothing item to any figure. There is a learning curve to this but once you master it, you can pretty much refit any outfit. There are threads over in the RDNA forums and tutorials at SMS Poser site.

If you want to use DS, you will likely have to make some purchases for it as well. Best I can suggest is to pick up the M4 shape for Genesis and the Generation 3 iconic shapes for Genesis. These will give you the shapes and the autofit clones (at least I think they do). Since we don't use DS much anymore, I could be wrong but with the M4 and M3 iconic shapes for Genesis, you should be able to convert M3 clothing to the M4 Genesis shape. If I'm wrong on this, someone should be able to correct this.

Unfortunately, my favorite base is M4. And it seems to be the one I am going to have the most trouble trying to do anything with outside of DS :( I already have a character shaped pretty much like I want him, and when I move over to Poser, it looks like I am going to have to start over from scratch and try to shape another figure to look lie him. And the facial features were a B***h to get right the first time... I have the M4 shape for Genesis, but not quite sure what to do with it yet. I am still very much a noob with no prior training in this medium.
It seems everything I need for the genre I am rendering for is made for every figure BUT the Gen 4 figures. But I like the Gen 4 figures because they are so easy to manipulate with the morph packages. The Genesis and Genesis 2 figures have morphs, but there have been many times that I have bought characters for the bases only to find out that I can't tweak them the way I would like. Beyond frustrating.
