FWF Britany missing texture file.
Downloaded and installed FWF Britany with DIM. When I try to apply the Mats B. (Strong Lights) -> !BaseMat I get a "Could not find file error for Runtime/textures/FWArt/Lara/FWLaraFaceS2.jpg.
This appears to be a texture for the unreleased FW Lara HD product that somehow got used in this preset. I tried all the makeup options and they work fine, including the MakeupRem. So far it is only the !BaseMat that is feeling lonely without her friend Lara.
Did a bit more digging around. The S2 mask appears to be the Specular mask used for the Lips. Using the strong lights mats, all the other skin regions use the specular mask in both the specular and specular 2 color. The Lip zone is only using the S2 mask in the specular 2 color and has no mask in the specular color. I suspect Lara accidentally loaned her friend Britany a lip specular mask.

Oh that's annoying.. there is a lip spec mask in the texture folder you can tell it to use. But just a tip, the dimmer light mats are set up for regular lights, the bright is set up for the super bright sets that seem to be used all the time now but I really really dislike. Try the dimmer base mat and light set that comes with it, it's much better.
Anyway.. I'll let Fred know so he can send an update in, I'm out of town on an annoying laptop at the moment.
Okay, scratch that.. this one didn't come with the lights. If you have Oliver he comes with lights. Otherwise this one is very similar: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/?item_id=71783
Thanks Fisty. I checked all the lip mat options. They all appear to work fine, and they all set the FWBritanyFaceS2 mask in both the specular and specular 2 colors.
You can fix this problem yourself by just setting the mask on the specular color in the lip zone. If that sounds too complicated for you, then it looks like the Lips00B preset in Lip folder under MATs B. (Strong Lights), will fix the missing texture for you too. In fact any of the Lip mats in that folder will fix it, but the Lips00B seems to use the same specular settings and diffusion texture as the !BaseMat.
I made the DS mats, hun..
More specifically, I made the lower light DS mats (Fred adjusted them for the bright light version) I also did the makeups and nails, the dress figure, and the dress textures (and its DS and Poser mats)
I made the DS mats, hun..
Sorry, that was not intended for you. That was for other people who hit this problem. I assumed you didn't need any help from me.
For anyone interested I have a FWF Britany render in my Art Zone thread. And yes, I'm one of those people that use bright lights most of the time, so I used the strong light skin for the render.
Thanks mark128 and Fisty, I have yet to run DIM for the stuff I got the past two days, FWF Britany among them. I'll keep this thread in mind when I get a chance to go threw and verify instals of stuff (Using DIM as always).
I will patently await product updates from FWF (for Britany), and OzyChick (for Aria).
I did get an error when I applied the body morph to v6, then clicked to apply the Britney texture that the skin could not be found. It did load the texture though anyway.
What was the morph error? or did I miss that above?
that's weird, I know the tester spotted it and I send the new update to her, though looks like it got lost somewhere along the line. WIll get it updated. In the meantime, if you click on the "!!!INFO" one instead it applies it normally, which should be the exact same file. so no idea what has happened there. but will get it updated for DIM, but like I said, using the "!!!INFO" one for now will do the trick.
and SereneNight, what's the error message you got?
Here we go:
What happens is I load V6. Zero her out, then apply the second Brit mat from product view. It generated the error below
IT appears to be the 'strong light' base mat that is the culprit.
oh I see, yeah it's the same issue then. getting the files to be updated. Still don't know what happened since I know my tester changed it during testing. So who knows. like I said in the meantime just use the "!!!INFO" one instead of the "!!BaseMat" and you wont get that issue.
No intention to distract here, this is now the forth time I've seen a figure apply thing ask for something from a completely different project.
One of Wilmaps pant and shirt pack insisted in haveing a Christmas set, after a second attempt to make the mat apply thing. Her solution was to simply include the erroneous textures in the outfit set zip. Lyoness was able to manually recode the bad duf, and I have yet to hear from OzyChick.
Are you, OzyChick, Lyoness, and Wilmap all using the same tool to make the duf things, and is the issue possibly with that tool?
It's a good question, but I have no idea how those others work, but I do mine manually, which is why it can happen things get missed. got 60 figures in my store and it's the first time it happened, not saying it's ok when those things happen, but it can happen. I already have mine changed now with DAZ so an update should be in DIM hopefully later today. I could just get the file and post it here, but as it's the same as the !!!INFO.duf, it's easier to use that than have my version mixed in with it now.
Unfortunately I do notice that those things happen with some people more than others. and some stuff I buy from other sites is even worse, makes you wonder if those were even tested, not from DAZ but other places. It can happen, shouldn't happen, but it can. though if it happens a lot makes you wonder if the vendors are even testing the stuff themselves.
I always put all my stuff to test on a second pc which has nothing else installed. Unfortunately with Britany I tested her the same time as Lara, which is why I didn't notice. wont do that again. :)
O.k. and thanks. Lyoness had a similar goof with a G2F & V5 combo figure, lol. V5 mats included in G2F so the G2F mat apply duf shouldn't need the separate V5 figure files. As mentioned, that was solver in short order. It just struck me that they may be related, tho your not using a tool to create the duf files, so not related then.
Thanks so much.
yeah I think the big issue is DAZ Studio having a good memory. so sometimes it remembers it when you allowed it to use a different texture from something, so when it comes to testing it, no call out comes up cause it just takes it out of the folder you allowed it to take it from... so it can easily happen. though I do wish that there would be a tool you can use to double check the runtimes. There used to be one for Poser and V4 in the past, but that never looked at DS files, so no longer use it. But would help having something to run through the zip to spot any missing files again etc. but guess it is still a case of doing it manually, unless I just don't know about it. I do like that here everyone spots things easy so they can be fixed, after all no one wants to have a product out that has a fault with it. just not nice :)
It never occurred to me that the !!INFO preset would do something. It does indeed apply the mats without any errors. Thanks.
yeah with DUF files you cant have empty ones for some reason, so I always copy the base mat across, which is why it is even weirder that it does that right when it doesn't the other one. :)
By the way, with all the stuff I saw when waking up I completely forgot to comment on your great render. LOVE it!
silly n00b question. If I have yet to install FWF Britany, will I even see an update in DIM for her? Or will that just be included with the initial install thing?
The only update I got today, was for "Temple Of The Pharaohs DS", whatever that is about. Second one in a month's time. I just had that set loaded, and decided to go with "Level 19" instead for the Amazing skins test thing. Pleas don't hate me for doing that to FW Eve. :-/
not a silly question, I didn't know myself how it works since I don't think I ever had a product updated before. anyhow, just downloaded it from DIM and the correct version got installed, so "should" all be good now :)
and I am sure Eve doesn't mind ;)
Thanks. I'm sure FW Eve would wipe the floor with me using "The Force", no lightsaber required, lol.
I must now sift threw the past few days of purchases and pas them threw DIM. That should keep me busy for quite some time. To rephrase Zathras, "Thanks so much, for many reasons".
I'm getting a duplicate ID error when applying MATS B strong lights
I will confirm that, and the wilmap duplicate ID fix script shows an empty folder (probably different file type). It was a random thought.
"!!BaseMat.duf" in "MATs B. (Strong Lights)" folder, kicks out the error.
(Edit)
The "!!!INFO.duf" in that folder doesn't bring up the error, tho I don't know what it dose, if anything.
Whatever the Smart tab Figures from scratch thing uses is fine, and all the stuff under Mats B (1 Makeup, 2 Lashes, etc).
I should be more thorough when I see if stuff installed I guess. Dose it load from the smart tab, yes, dose it look about right, yes, next, lol.
(Edit2)
All of "Mats A" and sub-folders checks out fine here. The "!Morphs" folder also checks out. I still feel like I'm violating the ones and zeros in my computer, lol.
Looks like just "!!BaseMat.duf" in "MATs B. (Strong Lights)" folder. I'm still ever so grateful, I'll let SereneNight take it from here.
(Edit 3)
I completely forgot about the included dress, I'll test that after some shut eye. 16 of 109 products downloaded and looked at so far, I should have taken it slower at the shopping cart.
