How do I save a new preset?

I just finished creating an OC of one of drawings through the morph features. I know how to save the individual file, but under the 'actors, wardrobe, and props' tab there is a button that allows you to save a character preset. I'm assuming this allows you to save an individual design out of the entire file so you don't have to keep creating that specific character design each time you want to use it. The pop up message comes up saying, 'You must select a Triax weight mapped figure in the scene to save a character preset.' Is this function what I believe it is and how do I go about finishing this process?
Thanks for you help.

For a weight-mapped figure like Genesis/G2F/G2M select the figure and save the appropriate preset (shaping preset for just the shape, material preset for just the textures, character preset for both). For older figures like V4 use Save As > Deprecated

I have a V4 with a Forest Daphni applied and adjusted with the morph features. I saved it under Deprecated, but when I try to reload it, the facial changes are lost.

The presets don't save the morph deltas - the actual shape changes - only the values of the morph sliders. If you made changes to a legacy rig figure such as V4 your options are to save a Scene or Scene subset (the latter is probably best as you can then merge it into other scenes simply by double0-clicking in the content pane) or to use the ExP exporter to set up a new loadable morph (for figures that use ExP - mainly the DAZ humans and the SubDragon).

    From the old wiki:

Character Preset: A preset selection in DAZ Studio, the Character Preset can save the pose and the textures used on the figure. It does not save the base figure itself. In other words, To use a saved character preset, you have to load the base figure first and then apply the character preset to it. If you want to save the character and the base figure, choose to save as a scene.
