I'd like to ask about this new product: https://www.daz3d.com/makeup-festival-for-genesis-8-and-81
It says it's for males and females, G8 and 8.1, right under the title. But in the Details, below the main image:
This beautiful makeup set transforms any Genesis 8 Female or Genesis 8.1 Female characters into amazing concept renders.
It only refers to females. So, can all of these makeup items be used on G8 and G8.1 males? I'd hate to buy it and then find that it doesn't work well with the males.
Ah, interesting. I don't have it, since I don't use Genesis 8.1 and rarely use makeup on the guys, but it looks fun.
I agree, the ad copy does seem to indicate male compatibility, and yet none of the pictures show men wearing it or using it, so it leads me to wonder. If anyone has this product can you answer Inquire?
I don't see any male promo images. Between that and the textual description, I doubt if it is designed for males, but I don't own it either.
I don't have that product, but I have a character SASE Bellina for Genesis 8 and Genesis 8.1 Female that has some LIE makeup that I tried out on Kota 8.1's Alternative Shape # 8. Other than some dark shadowing in the nostrils, the makeup applied quiet nicely. Possibly if Inquire has an extreme LIE makeup from G8F that could be tested on G8.1M?
The G8.1 generation seems to be both male and female in the releases for the DO characters.
I did look at the product's readme and list of files and they only show 'female' in the lines.
I will ask.
Here are a few comic pages.
good comics
Here's a picture of Grandad Kelly. I spent some time making him for the panel as I found it somewhat hard to make an upbeat-looking older guy.
Remember the Razor Rider diner? Well, I IRay-Ized it using emissive shaders, and a bunch of other shaders. Looks really nice now!
I do need to replace the food props.
I like that. It's quite nice.
So I just purchased a new Alienware Aurora R12 which will with all good fortune help me render and use Genesis 8.1
For those living in California, please take note, they now have energy restrictions to shipping some of the new GPUS without certain modifications. Weirdly, I was denied buying the machine I wanted initially because of the GPU, however, there is a section for modified computers, which meet the energy requirements.
At any rate, I am backing up my data now, in preparation for the transfer. I probably will do a clean install, but with thousands of items, that will take a while.
Woohoo! Congrats!!
What graphics card will CA let you get? I'd never heard of that restriction before. CA is crazy!
It’s an Alienware Aurora R12
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 24GB GDDR6X
11th Gen Intel Core i7 11700F (8-Core, 16MB Cache, 2.5GHz to 4.9GHz w/Intel Turbo Boost
There are separate catalog entries for the R12, one of which has “Complies with California Energy Commission requirements” and has a slightly higher base price.
The requirements can't be that stringent if they're letting you have a 3090.
I honestly don't know. I read on Reddit they aren't allowing hard drives with standby power leech and forcing different hard drives. But not entirely sure.
It sounds great! Are you getting enough RAM to support Iray renders with the 3090? I've heard that you should have at least twice as much system RAM as GPU RAM. So that would be at least 48 GB.
It will have 64. The cost of ram sold through Alienware was over the top so I figured I'd buy more elsewhere. My current system has 124 and I do really Iike having plenty of Ram, but I can probably wait a while to buy a chip. It is also possible the current chip I have is transferable I will see, but I doubt it.
Capable purchase. I'm stalling til march. Well actually not stalling, because availability isn't that great at all still yet & I'm just buying a card. I will probably wind up buying a new AMD Ryzen 9 5950X or as near to that CPU that has an integrated Big Navi as APU before I buy a RTX 3090; but a RTX 3080 / 3080 TI or 3090 is what I'll be buying or even newer models with RTX next spring.
I think it will be fine. The good news is FedEX is delivering it tomorrow. I wanted to get it this year. I am not certain that I will be able to afford a new pc in the near future, since I will be retiring in the next few years, and then on a fixed income, so I wanted to get it, and pay it off by then.
Super. I will have my debt paid off by the end of this year. Well, except the house mortage but as those go it's much cheaper then renting and half as long in duration as a typical USA mortgage.
So, finally got studio to work. I had the bug with the DLL in studio which caused it to quit. What a drag.
At any rate, that's done, with the old dll downloaded.
Here my Alienware Aurora R12 was able to render Urban Future 7 in 6 minutes and 60 seconds. No Optimization.
What are you going to do with all your extra time now?
It is nice to be able to render things out of the box, without having to optimize, and minimize. At least so far!
So my ticket for Toon Generations Essentials was closed, and wierdly they asked me a question if I'm still having this issue, and what version of studio I use when they closed it. Well, I am using the latest build, and this is Boyd when I zeroed him out. If you also get the baby issue, please submit a ticket.
Looks super & in less than 8 minutes! What is the resolution? FHD (1920x1080)?
I used the default but did drop it down, because the default camera dpi was huge, and I just halved it I think. I wanted to try messing around with other stuff. It finished by the time I folded the laundry.
On the subject of stuff dialing in, when not dialed in:
Demon HD head ridges is dialed in on my figures at 0.
3d Toon Generations Essentials for Genesis 8 Male- turns figures into babies.
