Elvin Dress conforming

Hello
I recently purchased Elvin Dress and am experiencing it not conforming to my model's poses. Could anyone advise me on this? Sure like the product but finding it very cumbersome to use with animating,
Thanks!, Don

Check under the pelvis or hip bones for skirt handles. It should also have some movement morphs. I haven't used it in a long time.. but generally any dress longer than mid thigh length will have handles instead of automatically following the legs. It is a bit of a pain for animation.. if it's too much trouble switch to a tunic and leggings or use a dynamic skirt or dress instead.
yes that is not the easiest dress for animation
but being long you can hide legs and feet which I usually do
you can also export an obj of just the bottom half (hide top and tick the do not export hidden option)
reimport it and use transfer utility to attach to figure, gets a lot of stretching though
some screenies to help explain
tried adding smoothing and subdiv but not much better
Yeah.. I would make the skirt polys invisible and add a long dynamic skirt instead.
I don't have any nifty animation loops.. but you get the idea.
... ... ... ...
I am impressed, now I'll need to go find that, if I don't already have it.
One super simple thing I've experienced, when in a rush to cloth a figure. Even after selecting genesis in the scene tab, some times when I load cloths in rapid succession, they don't fit-to the figure on load. It's annoying when I go to put the figure somewhere in a scene, and the cloths stay at world center, lol.
Also, with some outfits, I end up needing to go into the bone-tree in the scene tab, and adjust the outfit-joints slightly differently from the figure pose to make things line up. Even then I sometimes need to chose the camera angles carfuly to hide the fact the skirt is not completely outside of the figure... as in this render.

Fisty, she looks great, but the dress isn't there! You hid its skirt, left the blouse part and added another skirt, probably a dynamic one, is that right?
yes, to get the skit part to move correctly in animations, I guess.
Tho now that you mention it, I like that blouse even better now. It has become modular, sort of. Shame I can't just buy the outfit like that, lol.
(EDIT)
This is not Dark Elves (the only thing in a store search), What outfit is this?
this dress
in carrara of course I make the handles or skirt track target helpers parented to legs
Sadly DS cannot do this
Poser I run a hybrid cloth sim
O.K. in the cart, curious about the skirt Fisty used?

I know it is different, I wounder if this would work with that top?

yes it is shorter, I know. It's different.
Yeah, it's the skirt that comes in this pack: http://www.daz3d.com/ultimate-pattern-design-kit ( Poser version: http://www.daz3d.com/dynamic-ultimate-pattern-design-kit-for-poser ) Hitomi is kinda small so I had to scale her up for it to fit right, also added some x shrink so it would hug her hips nice. I probably could have gotten away with leaving her scale the same but adding more x-shrink, that would have made it longer on her than it is.. pretty much required to use an animated drape when using a V4 dynamic on Genesis.. but if you're doing animation anyway that's not a big deal.
Oh, to remove the skirt.. chose the polygon selection tool, open the tool tab. Click on the + sign next to the surface called skirt bottom edge (or something to that effect), the polys on the very bottom edge of the dress will turn yellowish. Hold down control and press numpad + a whole bunch of times until you get up to a good waistline area. Right click anywhere on the viewport and go to geometry assignment -> create new surface from selected, name it skirt or something. Go back to a regular tool. Go to the surface tab and make your skirt surface invisible. Remember to set the specular color to black as well just in case.
(this is a 2 minute operation, if that.. and you can save it back to the library.. so not quite as good as being able to buy it as just a shirt, but it's close.. and it does make a nice skirt by itself doesn't it..)
oh, it was the not dragging on the ground that caught my eye with that skirt, lol. wish-listed till I get a chance to figure out how to use the dynamic opty-things in still images (or for anything for that matter). I picked up that circle skirt last night along with a few shaders, in hopes of some day being able to use it. Thanks for the info.
Now for the Elf-blouse (per say), did you use the steps Wendy described to alter it, or was it a simple Opacity-map alteration?

We doubled on that post, lol. How many times have I looked at a dress and thought, I want the top for something, and shied away. polygon selection tool, I vaguely remember going there once months ago to try to rename a surface. This is the point I need to stop cleaning, and fire up Studio, and stare at the interface for a bit. Thanks very much for the info, I hope new316 isn't annoyed or lost by my questions and tangents.
Look on the previous page, I posted instructions =)
