Setting up Daz interface up the way I am used to it ...

Thanks to a Windows 8.1 'refresh', I find myself reinstalling all of my software, once again.
In the past, ya'll aided me in setting up the interface in a way I understand and I find most productive, but for the life of me, I can't find where that instruction was.
I remember how to direct DS4.6 to my existing content folder, but I can't remember how to make the interface white again, and how to make it stop giving me that yellow highlighting when I hover over the figure.
I also need to know how to save the changes to default, again.
I figured if I make it a specific thread for this, at least my notes will be saved here, rather than on a sticky note that just got deleted, lol.
Thanks

I don't know if it's what you need, but I've written a few tutorials on customizing Studio's interface here:

I'll check them out :D Thanks :D
Looking at the screenshots in your "weird cropping bug" thread Aidana, you'll want to:
. Window -> Workspace -> Select Layout... "City Limits" most likely (but try the others and see if you like them);
. Window -> Style -> Select Style... "Main Street" at a guess, but also try "Highway" if you want things a bit smaller;
. Window -> Panes -> Tool Settings (should pull up the pane below somewhere), then set the "Active Tool" up top to the various tools that you want (at least 'Node Selection' you'll want to modify, but maybe the others too), and look for the "Node Highlighting" section, and set 'Draw Style' to be "Bounding Box Only" (it's the "Bounding Box & Surface" that's causing that irritating yellow flash X);
Thanks, MFM :D
It never occurred to me to show those screenshots as reference to what I want, lol.
While I am making adjustments ... Is there a way to hide the 'floor' grid and the light 'arrows' without turning out the lights? Sometimes they make detail adjustments hard to see. I wouldn't want the grid gone all of the time, but those arrows are annoying, lol.
Looking better so far. Now I need to turn it back to white and figure out why the default camera doesn't load on start. How do I save it as the default way to open once I have it back the way I want it? Or is that in the above tutorials?
Under the Display -> Scene View options for the light, you should be able to switch the "Visible" to off, without affecting the rendering. You can also achieve the same effect with the little "eye" icon on the scene tab.
Simplest way (that I know of) is under Edit -> Preferences (or F2 if you prefer), the "Startup" tab. Make a "base" empty scene file with appropriate lights / camera / render settings etc etc... save it out as a DUF somewhere, then set the "On "Launch" Load File" option to that file (remembering to tick the box, of course ;-) ). The example below I had a "startup-test.duf" file where I was testing things awhile ago...
When I use the eye, the light goes out in the workspace, though :(
Oh, right, it's being "helpful"... that may actually be a "feature" we can't control (if the light is not Visible, then your scene will go black).
If you're using distant lights, note that you don't HAVE to have the light (and therefore the arrows) actually at the origin of the scene - you can move it off "to one side", just pointing at the right angle, and it will illuminate things the way it should. Alternatively, I _think_ you can Scale them down a bit to make them less conspicuous, without affecting the illumination properties...
Also, I think I've (just) discovered why you may be missing the "default camera" that everybody talks about - did you check your Edit -> Preferences -> Scene tab, the "Create a "Default Camera"" option? ;-) (needless to say, if you want a different scene setup when you do a File -> New, you might wish to set that "Load file" option below to your saved "blank" scene file as well).
Thanks :D I even found a couple handy tools new to me with this re-setting :D The thirds guide and the center axes. :D
