Carrara animation rendered in Octane

This is a short keyframe animation I created after I started playing with the Octane plugin for Carrara. I was working on another entirely different project (to learn another 3d software package) when I decided to give myself 7 to 10 days to create a little animated short movie and render it in Octane. Enjoy.

It Looks very good ... I known how hard it is to animate those 3-D characters from 3-D universe
    So well done

I did enjoy it, good work. I'm not familiar with the Octane plugin for Carrara, did you see a lot of advantage?

One immediate benefit is a realtime viewport (a feature I like in Lightwave) updating to reveal final quality output while working on things in the assembly room. It uses your GPU(s) and produces a global illumination output faster than Carrara's built-in renderer. What you see in this movie with depth of field and vignette were rendered straight out of Octane (no post work for those) and most of the frames were rendered (at 1000 samples per frame) in around 25 seconds per frame on my machine. So for me, it render fast and I eliminated some post work.

Also, Octane is a physically based renderer. So it represents lighting more accurately.

I know the render time is affected by a number of things (complexity of the scene, materials, etc.). And since I have a small render farm, I can see still using it with Carrara's built-in renderer at times.

    Edit:
Take a look at http://render.otoy.com/ for additional details.

OK, thanks. You may recall I enter the two day contests, so anything that renders good and fast is of interest. (A wall poster from my engineering days: "Good. Cheap. Fast. Pick Two")

"I know the render time is affected by a number of things (complexity of the scene, materials, etc.). And since I have a small render farm, I can see still using it with Carrara’s built-in renderer at times." Not sure I follow this - you can use Octane AND Carrara's renderer at the same time? Or do you mean sometimes Carrara's renderer will be more efficient?

In any case, Octane sounds worth a look, since it now is available for Carrara. Thanks for sharing.

You cannot use both at the same time / they don't work together.
I guess I should have also added I haven't done good comparative tests yet between my render farm and Octane. Also, I might find Octane, because of being physically based, provides a 'look' I want that can't be easily achieved or simply does it faster than when using the built-in renderer with render farm. I bought it a little over a week and a half ago and obviously will have a better idea as I use it more.

Some might hesitate to use it given the price of Octane standalone, the plugin, and the cost of a good video card (if you don't already have one; or want another (in which case you might also need a more capable power supply) to improve performance since performance appears to scale linearly (advertise to do so and I noticed when adding another GTX 780)).
