Download everything from my Product Library

edited December 1969 in The Commons

Hi!

I wonder if theres an easy way to batch download all the stuff ive bought through the years?

I have never liked the installers that reside on my drive and would like to replace them with the zip files that are now available, but there will be a lot of work to manualy download them all.

Is there any service that let you buy the content on DVD's?

Will Daz servers go berzerk if I download all files in my product library?

Would love to find a setting for example download all + zip + windows + poser, can the "install manager" help me with this?
I dont want to have the files automaticly installed just downloaded.

Thx in advance!

Download and install DIM then run DIM You can set it to just download.

    Documentation on DIM here http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/install_manager/start

One note: There may be some items in your product library that DIM doesn't "see" for whatever reason - you'll have to download those manually.

To find them, go to your product library page, enter

    dim::false
into the filter box (make sure there are two colons), and click on Filter.

    Thank you for that information!

I must have choosen the good products as dim::false returns zero items :-), anyway handy to know for future references.

I used copy/paste, nope. Then I removed one of the colons, nope. It's returning zero items from my product library as well and I know I've got manual only downloads in there.

Interesting! Entering that into the "filter" gets me 3 pages of products (including S4pro and G4pro) which dim apparently doesn't support yet :(

    Cheers :)

The files in these (and many more) bundles are only oversights of old installers not being removed from product library, but the separate items are available through DIM zips correctly. If you're not sure just compare these installers with the items listed under 'This product is a bundle that contains the following product..'

So... we get false positives, false negatives, and some that are just plain incomprehensible (apparently the "P5 Pro Bundle" SHOULD include a "Legacy DAZ Studio installer" for "Town and Country for Genesis" - but given that T&C only supports Genesis I'm not sure what "Legacy DAZ Studio installer" means here).

I should have just kept my mouth shut :( . It seems to me that things still aren't quite as simple and easy as some would like :(

    Cheers,

    Cliff

    Thanks for the info ( dim::false )

I've got six pages full and an interesting mix.

Some are very old (very very very) and probably will never be transferred.

Others are available right under the product thumb with a message (requires latest version of DIM). That version was probably some time ago.

    Others seem fully available.

The bundles surprised me. Some seem to have all files available in DIM but most of the ones I clicked on (admittedly not a lot) it was an extra file that wasn't available separately in the store that was the 'culprit'.

    Useful to check out.

I grabbed the cyclorama Walls which I had wondered what happened to.

Oh, and a bunch of tutes I forgot about.

I'm going to regret this. I can feel it in my bones. Sometimes people mistake my answering questions for being argumentative, when that isn't really what I'm aiming for at all. But here goes...

Not sure what you mean by false positives and negatives

A false negative would be like what Patience55 reports - known-to-be-manual-install-only products that this technique (dim::false) does not list as needing to be manually downloaded and installed. I can't verify Patience55's experience since I don't know which products, so even if I have them can't confirm.

A false positive would be like the Stephanie 4 Pro Bundle, where this technique (dim::false) reports that there are missing files when, actually, there aren't/don't seem to be,

It's still a VERY interesting technique, but it seems to be wandering further and further from Jonnybode's requested "easy way" as we've been through several iterations.

    1. Use DIM

    2. Oops, that missed some things so...

    1. Use DIM.

    2. Check for files DIM doesn't support using dim::false

    3. Ooops, that isn't ENTIRELY accurate so we have to...

    1. Use DIM.

    2. Check for files DIM doesn't support using dim::false

    3. For each product that dim::false returns as being manual, check that it really DOES need downloading manually (seems to be bundles that need checking).

    4. Oops, Patience55 reports that dim::false doesn't return known unsupported files. Assuming that's correct it would lead us to...

    1. Use DIM.

    2. Check for files DIM doesn't support using dim::false

    3. For each product that dim::false returns as being manual, check that it really DOES need downloading manually (seems to be bundles that need checking).

    4. Download and optionally install any files that the above procedure missed.

    5. Sit down and relax - you're done!

This should sill be a HUGE saving on manually downloading every gosh-darned file, and each and every tip has been a productive and helpful hint. But I wonder if it still meets the "easy" criteria that Jonnybode laid out initially?

    Cheers,

    Cliff

Edit for PS: I use DIM, and wouldn't be without it.

If you want to go the hard way, you need to add another step: Find items that you paid for but that are missing in your product library like reported here ;)

I gave up on that LONG ago - I bought some bundle CD of "Michael" and probably one of "Victoria" so very long ago and who knows what else... probably under another name (presumably "who3d" rather than "Cliff Bowman", who knows?). They've just gone the way of all flesh. Wish I had them, may yet find the CD/CDs one day. One day... then I'll have "Michael Map" and the original Wedge Cut again, and who knows what other goodies?

Or I may yet find an old backup with them on, and manage to extract the product from the backup. Maybe. In my spare time...

    Cheers ;)

Tip was good for those to whom it works. Just didn't happen for me and ? what I came back to ... okay for those interested this is one of the admittedly few items that doesn't have a DIM download option. I know there are a few more but honestly don't have the time nor inclination to search for them all right now.

As to the puzzle disappearances it's probably more of a miracle that we have most of what we've purchased left in a history so while it might be a pita to miss one now and then, as someone stated and 'tis true, if it's that important for an item to be in their history, buy it again [possibly when it's in fastgrab or for whatever reason, really on sale]
