Using V3/A3 Clothing with G2F

Unfortunately, the Auto-fit tool does not seem to work with V3/A3 clothing to fit them to G2F characters, so I am looking for a workaround. G2F is definitely becoming my preferred character platform, so I would prefer to leverage it if at all possible.
I see Genesis Generation X2 and its various add-ons, but it seems to do far more than what I need. I am also considering Gen 3 Iconic Shapes for Genesis, but it only goes to Genesis and not to G2F. Are there any suggestions on items I have overlooked, or perhaps thoughts on GGX2 and/or Iconic Shapes?

The best way to do this is to Transfer Utility the Gen 3 clothing to G1, save the articles as separate files, then transfer them to G2 using the "Genesis" clone option.
Do you have the Gen 3 Iconic Shapes for Genesis?

In addition to adding morphs to Genesis 1, these update the Auto-Fit tool so it work with V3 and A3 clothing. (And M3, H3, SP3, and F3 clothing, too.)
I do not have Gen 3 Iconic Shapes, but am considering getting it with the Week 3 15-punch bonus if this will work for what I need.
If I follow your logic correctly, I can use this so that Auto-fit can convert V3/A3 clothing to a Genesis figure, and then as a second step move the clothing from the Genesis figure to a G2F figure - I hope that is correct!

I believe that's the right sequence, yes. (I'm still using the older figures, not G2F.)
So using http://www.daz3d.com/gen-3-iconic-shapes-for-genesis - you have to load in a Genesis 1, apply an old V3/A3/M3/something-3 outfit to it. Auto-fit it to Genesis 1...
Then save it as a new item.
You then load in a Genesis 2 figure, and apply it to that new figure - and it goes through auto-fit again.
This double run through auto-fit is not always kind to the item. Some things will survive amazingly well and others will be... problematic to use.
- I've only done it once myself, and the resulting outfit was good from some camera angles but had large triangles poking out of the 'butt crack' of the figure. the outfit I used was the one that we see in all the Dazaholic promo image; a spacer leotard for Aiko 3.
You can also try just loading the clothing and choosing unsupported for the figure, sometimes it works amazingly well.. sometimes it blows up. =)
This is why it's better to do it via Transfer Utility as opposed to Auto-fit. You don't get the advanced option with Auto-fit that allows one to keep clothing morphs and adjust transfer quality (which helps reduce smears).
Transfer Utility makes little sense to me, even after watching a Daz video on TU on YouTube.
I need to think about this a little more, but I may just get Gen 3 Iconic Shapes for Genesis - with the Week 3 bonus, it will be free anyhow, so nothing lost really from my perspective - and go forth from there...
Very similar to Arcady above, I sometimes use wardrobe wizard in Poser (if you have it) to convert the A3 item to something for Victoria 4. Then I can use "fit to" for either Genesis or Genesis 2 (have both clones). That way, the item can be used or all generation figures.

If you're having trouble with the Transfer Utility, the following thread is a great way to help one understand the full benefits of it. :)

An alternative method if you have GenX2 (you also need the A3 shapes for Genesis) is to transfer an Aiko3 shape to G2F, and then use that to create a clone. That way you can drag and drop any Aiko 3 clothing item to G2F directly and then select the clone shape so that Auto Fit will conform the clothing directly.
Whilst creating an Aiko 3 clone for G2F is not trivial (there are a number of tutorials around how to create clones from imported shapes), it only takes 10 mins or so once you know the steps to do so. After that it is much easier to fit clothing as it does not require the two step approaches given above.
Below I have included images of G2F wearing the Angel of Light outfit for A3. All the pieces where just drag and dropped to G2F and then auto fitted. I had to add a smoothing modifier to the boots to get them to fit, and the skirt looks less than perfect, but these are auto fit issues and are likely to also occur if the approach of fitting to Genesis first is used aswell.
First image is just straight G2F, the second one shows G2F with Aiko 3 shape.
Thanks everyone for the help/tips - I have not given up yet, but have not had time to test it for a few days.
@RCDeschene: Will check out the thread tonight when I have more time to work through this
Please do. Kattey's insight on the Transfer Utility is fantastic and very easy to learn, and, in my opinion and experience, is much better than any of the tutorial videos on YouTube. She's always happy to answer people's questions, too. She's grand! :)
I believe this is now resolved...
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Gen 3 Iconic Shapes for Genesis is 65% off today, so I used part of my Week 4 punch bonus to get it for free ;-) The initial tests have been positive, although I see that I will likely have issues with longish skirts/dresses unless my characters are standing at attention. Still, this now enables me to tap into quite a few clothing sets which have looked interesting to me (and now are fairly low in cost) and can help me to flesh out my scenes with some new background characters.
