Greyed Out but Selectable Parameters?

I've watched all 7 parts of the Great Art video series by Val Cameron, and am currently watching a more in-depth video in the series, Parameter Tab Magic. The more I learn, the happier and more excited I feel about having returned to DS.

That being said, I'm a little curious as to why greyed out parameters are selectable when using the Darkside menu style. If they're selectable, shouldn't they appear highlighted along with other selectable parameters? For example, General and Transforms are grey, but when you drill down to Transforms, the Translation, Rotation, and Scale options are highlighted. Shouldn't General and Transforms be highlighted as well?

It means those dials are hidden and you have show hidden properties enabled. Whoever created the product thought the end user shouldn't be messing with them so they hid them. You can still use hidden properties if you want but the results may not be nice, IE - if you dial up a greyed out parameter and ugly things happen it's not a technical issue with the product, it's a using as not designed issue.
