Stonemason's Sci Fi Hangar - How Do I dock a Ship?

This is a beautiful model, as always, from Stonemason. I thought it was going to be enormous from the promo renders. It must have been the atmosphere. It is kind of small - only a small vessel fits in it, yet there are crates sitting around that should be transported. Is it meant to be used at that scale? Also, it has a similar configuration to Jack Tomalin's GIS Terminal, with no floor. How do space ships, large or small, dock in these hangers? I searched for renders but couldn't find any, only hangars with flat floors for docking space vessels.

    Very carefully? ;-) ...

... or with the aid of zero gravity and magnetic boots? (perhaps hide the door and walkway along the "floor", so that you can scale it up further to give a sense of space?).

alternatively, maaaaaybe both these creators are going to release a ship especially designed for their docks in the future sometime?

Thanks. I can make some major alterations with Modular Sci-Fi Kits I guess. That, "zero gravity and magnetic boots" and lots of lights, steam and smoke should take care of it. ;-)

Im not sure about Stonemason's Sci-Fi Hanger, but for Tomlin's GIS terminal, I thought it was meant for only fighter/scout sized ships based on the promo shots attached below.

Also in the promos for Stonemason's Sci-Fi Hangar, Kibarreto's IronStar seems to pretty fill it up and the IronStar is not a very large ship.

I would say use your imagination. There are a couple renders in the Gallery showing Kibbareto's Shuttlestar and DigiVault's Dropship docked in the hanger. Plus, in Sci-Fi, the term "docked" doesn't necessarily mean landed. There could be some kind of invisible mooring system holding ships in place inside the hanger, or maybe the ships are simply matching the movement of the hanger in orbit.

I don't think these hangers are meant for ground based scenes, but I'm sure there's a way to explain that too if necessary. That's the beauty of Science Fiction - you can make it up ;)

Thanks! I didn't see that promo. And I didn't recognize Ironstar. I have Shuttlestar and some other small ones too that should work

Oh, cool! Those are nice renders and very helpful. DigiVault's Dropship is large but is floating up higher. I did think of that, but just wondered if there was a "right" way. I have some ideas now and will have some fun with it! Thanks! :-)

Yeah, beautiful model, but would have benefitted enormously from an optional airlock umbilical for characters to walk/float along and cargo to be transported through. Just assume that spacesuits would have to be worn... And hope your renders don't call for medical emergency and burns victims to be offloaded in a hurry. ;)

Still planning on purchasing it, though. SM's science-fiction sets are too stunning not to. :)

I'm going with the airdock being intended only for small personal transport like shuttles. But then why not go for a hangar?

Looks like a fun model. Haven't played with it yet.

I just reduced the size of the dropship and then let the 'gravity impellers' or whatever to the rest;-)

    Thusly.....

I also did a Depth Cam render using one of Age Of Amours cameras and mixed the two, added a wee bit of lens flare and hey presto...

    Solved.

Not that Stonemason's props cannot handle a bit of resizing ;]

Back in my time we had to make do with impulse engines. And we LIKED IT.

Bha...Impulse engines! Too old and far too slow!

    Nice job FlyingBaloo.

I love those renders, TheDigivault and FlyingBaloo!

I avoided the whole size issue with this one. Stonemason's modeling and textures are awesome!

Speaking of GIS Terminal, does it have any doors that open and close? Particular where the docking stations are?

Just checked and don't think there are other options than to move the smaller door object manually. See pic...

There's no big blast door on the outside of the main element - that I know of.

Ok. Thanks. Is there any geometry behind that "door" like a hall or something?
