Genesis 2 UVs for Genesis

Maybe a stupid question but I thought all Genesis 2 males had basically the same UVs and all Genesis 2 females had basically the same UVs. So if I get the 'Genesis 2 Male and Female Base UVs for Genesis' why would I also need the 'Victoria 6 and Michael 6 UVs for Genesis'?
Thanks,
Charlie

I thought that each Genesis 2 female figure had their own uv map and same thing for all the genesis 2 male.
Not all Genesis 2 male products use the same UV. Some use the base UV, some use M6. There is the Gianni and Lee 6 UV as well.
Thanks Kulay and Male-M3dia for your quick replies. I guess I was wrong about the Genesis 2 figures having the same UVs.

The Genesis 2 male base figure uses Michael 5 UV maps.standard The Genesis 2 female base uses Victoria 5 UV maps standard. Victoria 6 uses and Michael 6 use a new set of UV maps unique to them. Gia and Gianni, and Lilith, etc. also use UV maps unique to them.

but the two base figures also have UV's unique to them
in the case of G2F it is very close to V6 as in no seams but nipples and nostrils slightly out

Not entirely true, TrampGraphics. Genesis 2 Male and Female each have their own base uvs, but they also come with M5 and V5 uvs. DAZ did that so that you would have some backward compatibility with Genesis. So, for Gen2 Male, there is Base Male, M5, M6, Lee, and Gianni. There are also (my products) that provide M4, David 5, Hiro 5 and Freak 5 UVs for him. For Gen2 Female, there is Base Female, V5, V6, Gia, Olympia, Stephanie 6, Aiko 6, Girl 6, Giselle 6 and Lilith 6 (I think I named them all). There are also available V4, Stephanie 5 and Aiko 5 UVs through products from myself and Mallenlane.
If you load base male or female, you will see their "standard" uvs are Base Male and Base Female, not M5 or V5. The textures are from M5 and V5, but were converted to "base" textures to be released with the figures.
Can anyone explain the advantage of transferring Gen2 UV's to Genesis? I have both Genesis V5 & M5 and Genesis 2 V6 & M6. Plus various Genesis and Gen 2 add-on figures. Why would I need to transfer Gen2 UV's to Genesis if I already have the Gen2 figures? I can understand the desire to use M4/V4 skins on Genesis and Gen 2 or Genesis skins on Gen 2 but not Gen2 skins on Genesis.
well in my case it is because genesis gives me less issues in carrara and iclone and I want to be able to use new skins as released
I can also add morphs from gen2 using GenX, this completes the process for characters that look like originals but in form I find easier to use
esp with genesis boned clothing
everyone would have their own reason
what we are being given here by buying such products is a choice
like crossdresser for using other figures clothes etc
Genesis does have greater compatibility with other software and there are a lot of Gen outfits available so I can see why these products are useful to you. I'm mainly using DS and find autofit pretty good so can't really see the advantage in my case.

While I would love everyone to think these UV conversions are the greatest thing and just buy them like crazy, I know that there is a limited market for them. Like Wendy said, it's just to provide another choice. There are many, many people who still prefer the original Genesis base and have spent lots of time setting up specific characters and combinations of morphs to get the perfect look. While one could buy other products that transfer these morphs to Genesis 2, not everyone has those plugins or wants to use them.
These UV conversions just add another layer of choices to use some of the newer textures available on their "older" characters. It's the same thing with the Generation 4 and 5 Legacy Shapes for Genesis 2. If someone already has those shapes on Genesis, why would they want them for Genesis 2? Or why wouldn't they just use GenX to transfer them? There is no answer for that. One is just an alternative to the other and both are viable and valuable choices and I don't expect everyone to choose my product over another.
Yours was a very good question, and I'm glad to have been given the opportunity to address it here. Thank you :)

I think having all these different products is great. The more the merrier! I just wasn't sure how they could be used or if I was missing out on some way of using them that I hadn't thought of before.
