If I have GenX & packages, do I need G2M, G2F, V6, M6 Female Base UVs for Genesis & Batch Converter

I'm looking at the new products, posted yesterday:

Genesis 2 Male and Female Base UVs for Genesis
Victoria 6 and Michael 6 UVs for Genesis
Batch Convert Genesis 2 to Genesis

They look pretty cool and the automated process that might make them available to use easily in Daz. My biggest challenge is actually finding all the stuff I own. Might be helpful.

Here's the deal. My daughter says I don't need any of these because I own GenX and all the packages to add the previous generations' morphs to G2. And all this would just be doing kinda the same thing only backward. I don't even know enough to have any clue if that is correct.

Yeah, so this is probably a really stupid question and I'd probably be embarrassed if I knew exactly how stupid it is... How do these packages compare? Do I need the Base UV packages if I have all the GenX stuff? I thought GenX would help me with morphs and poses (when I get there...)...

Okay, I admit it. I have way too much Daz stuff and don't do enough with it (working on that!)... And I'm pretty much still very novice and ignorant I'm afraid. Actually, my hobby is probably more collecting useful stuff at this point than using useful stuff. (WTB clone, time, and energy. I'm gonna blame my slow adoption of everything I've collected on fibromyalgia, a child with autism in college, and old timer's brain slowage in addition to spending inordinate amounts of time tracking down content in Daz Studio itself - it doesn't work the way my brain works.) Enough rambling...

Genesis Gen X only converts morphs, not UVs, so yes, you would need those sets if you wanted to convert the UV maps.

You would need them if you want to use Genesis 2 skins on the (original) Genesis figure.

You don't need them if you only intend to work with the Genesis 2 figures, or if you want to use Genesis also but don't need to use any Genesis 2 skin textures on it (your daughter is right, if I'm understanding correctly).

Edited to add: with GenX2 and the Genesis 2 add-on for it, you can convert Genesis morphs/shapes to G2F and G2M, and you can convert G2F and G2M morphs/shapes to Genesis. But it doesn't do anything with skin textures.

Not a stupid question at all. I was wondering about this also. I still can't understand why anyone would want to put G2F or G2M textures on Genesis. I must admit though that I find Genesis much more useful than G2s.

Do you need all three of them or will one or two to do the job?

It depends upon what UVs you want to convert. If you only want to convert certain UVs then you only need the product(s) that work for those specific UVs, If you want to convert all of the UVs Genesis 2 uses over to Genesis, and want to convert UVs in large batches, then you'd need all of them.

Can you convert the HD stuff to be used with Genesis?

Thank you! This answers my question fully. I would have to decide if I would ever use G2 skins with Genesis. Right now I am trying to only convert Genesis stuff to G2 or use Genesis as-is. A few HD skins might be tempting to convert to Genesis, but I think that would be it.

I really appreciate the thorough answer.

Thank you for everyone's answers!!! :)

This seems to be the only thread about the UV and batch converters so I will post my question here. I got it to work, used 'Danika' and 'Tori' body mats to convert into Genesis. Question is, does this only convert the body mat with the base colours/eyes/lips,etc or did I do something wrong? I could not go back in and use the original mats for the two females that would change their eye colours/lip colours. Also, 'Danika' has a tat option that I can't apply to the new Genesis/Dankia base. Is there an easy way to do this or maybe I can only use the base for each character and what comes with that. Hope that makes sense.
Update, WOW, I was doing the whole thing wrong. Did find some help as I found a couple more threads here and figured I was not there yet in figuring it out. I redid 'Danika' and found ALL of the files. WONDERFUL product. Thank goodness for forums!
