The moon will be going totally red in about 45 minutes!
GREAT view here in Florida, the black has already started taking over the upper corner for us here in the United States.
Read about it here, and if you can't see it, there is the live shots of the eclipse in progress from Griffith Observatory in California, etc.

Enjoy! It's gorgeous weather here and we're all out on the front porch watching.
68 degrees/ real feel 73 degrees. So how is it where you are, can you see the eclipse?

They are also showing it from Newcastle Australia. Cool!
Just talked to a friend up on the East Coast- socked in with solid cloud cover and rain. They can't see a thing.

6:32am- It's gone over the horizon now. The hummingbirds are here so now I get to enjoy them the rest of the morning. :)

Clouds ... layers and layers of clouds ... black ones and super white ones and a few possible normal clouds.

It was HUGE in the sky as it went toward the horizon this morning. :)

Lots of wildlife out during the night. One tried to share the front porch with me before it realized I was standing there motionless. It went one way, I went the other. The moon had already started eclipsing so it was too dark to tell. Prior to that, my white car was so bright out in the driveway, almost like dusk in the middle of the night.

    Images in a minute.

It was also neat to hear the hummingbirds coming in as I was filming. They were zzzzzzzzzzzing by my ear as they whizzed by. Pretty cool to bring in the morning with those little creatures. I have two feeders out so they will be well fed before departing over the Gulf Of Mexico to fly thousands of miles south. That always blows my mind.

I didn't have time to get the little dude in focus. And cut me some slack, I'd been video taping all night. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. :)

Okay, to somewhat redeem myself, I got a little better shot of the hummers. This is the ruby throated and he hovered for just a minute this morning so I could get a quick video clip. So this is a screenshot from the video.
EDIT: The first one is (I believe) a Calliope- white tipped spread tail.

:) I owned an Eleonora, Goffin, and Umbrella. They are loud, agreed! But SO funny when they talk. My Goffin sounded like Donald Duck. When I did my student teaching in Sydney (Australia) there was an Umbrella Cockatoo that, like clockwork, would land on the condominium balcony and shriek every morning until we fed him. The lady who had owned the condo previously had gotten him into a bad habit. But after a bit, it was kinda neat as I used him as an alarm clock- 6 to 6:15am sharp. NOT cool for the weekends, so I learned to put the food out the night before. Problem solved! (Wasn't a ground floor so no other varmits got into it.)

And thank you Artini. It was very sad to see it go over the horizon. I enjoyed seeing the bright full moon this past night, and jokingly thought, "No one's going to put you in the shade tonight big guy!"

I was able to see it here in Suva, Fiji. The clouds cooperated at the last moment (it had been raining pretty much every night for the past week).
I was able to get pictures, but had problems getting the camera to focus (doesn't help that my eyes are even in worse shape). I've still yet to check how well they'll come out.

    Great pictures, Novica!

OOOOOOH- Fiji is my NUMBER ONE favorite place! On my way to Australia, I stopped off there for a few days and the people were just delightful. They had a firewalking at one of the hotels, but my favorite thing to do was go to the market and browse through the vendors' displays and chat. I just remember how hospitable everyone was, and it has remained my number one spot since 1979!

Are you from Fiji? Have you ever been to the states?

Thanks, and I've enjoyed Oz, too.

Actually, I'm from the States. I'm currently working in Fiji on the start of a 3yr assignment.

Yeah, it's so awesome here! And there'll be NO WINTERS for 12 seasons!

I'm jealous! Enjoy yourself- take some photos of the traditional Fijian things (buildings, homes, market, unusual things) so you can model them for us :)

I always wanted a grass roofed pergola until I saw how easily they catch fire!

    Thank, Novica.
I've been doing that, especially going for good picts of the rafters to make the models look authentic.

    re Wendy:

I think dragons & grass huts will make a great combo! The hard part's going to make the flames look real, given the issues of making decent randomized flame, smoke & lighting

    bring your own marshmellows

    (just kidding)
