I've already broken the bank but I need landscapes/terrains

This sale is killing me!!!

Any suggestions for must haves in terrains or landscapes? For DS pls. I'm currently looking at First Bastion's morphing terrains or Magix 101's World Base XT; either way I'd have to load up on some plants and trees. :( Anyone done some decent renders with either?

Other suggestions would be greatly appreciate as it would take a year to look through everything and I have less than 48 hours .... :)

First Baston makes top shelf outdoor environments for Studio. I use them for 3Delight and LuxRender and both give me excellent results. The care he puts into these sets is obvious and they should work well with lower powered systems.

Also if you want to make your own landscapes two products you can try are:

Bryce (on sale right now for $13.96)
    http://www.daz3d.com/bryce-7-pro/

or Blender (on sale right now for free, because it's always free)
    http://www.blender.org/

just keep in mind some of the higher functions for these products wont transcribe to Studio but you can for instance model, sculpt and texture, in Blender and import those models into Studio with ease and Blender is a very powerful software package that does many things, one of them being landscapes but it will require you to learn the interface and some base functionality by lots of reading and patience with youtube videos.

    And there is also carrara
a robust modeler and animator as well as a terrain creator with windy trees and volunmetric clouds that will load your Daz and Poser figures natively too.

Thanks for the response. I have Bryce, Blender and Carrara actually. But Blender has too much of a learning curve for me at this time, Bryce I just couldn't get the hang of, so ended up uninstalling and Carrara I'm currently working my way through Phil Wilkes' tutorials in my limited spare time. If I had lots of $$$ I'd probably have Vue as well :) as that seems very easy to use (I've tried out their free version).

Anyway I have First Bastion's Gallerie and if the terrains are up to that standard I'll have to give them serious consideration! Thanks.

There are also FlipMode's Easy Environments sets. *Very* good results. And the rectangular box shape allows for things like city backgrounds without getting clipped by a dome.

    Greetings,
You're a platinum club member, so Moonscapes should be $1.99 for you, and a lot of folks have said it's an excellent terrain/landscape, and super-inexpensive.

Haha, I always like deals! Having a look. Could work with AoA's Grass and Rock shader bundle ... which I have also realised comes with some terrains. The joys of getting older I keep forgetting and losing things .... I also get distracted easily and have been looking at Howie Farkes beautiful scenes for Carrara. I could spend a fortune with this sale ... glad it will be over.

You could try Fober's World Dome Hills and porsimo's Morphing Ground V2 too. Both are free and both come with DS files, I think (though mixing with grass shaders might give additional options).

I use The Hills most often as well as Porsimo's terrains as bad4u said. I got Fantasy Camp 2 and 3 for free some time ago and the ground props included are very nice. Low on resources too. Fantasy Camp 2 is a freebie now: http://www.daz3d.com/free-3d-models-and-content/fantasy-camp-ii. Versatile Terrain 1 is nice as well.

I have almost everything by First Bastion that's Poser compatible. His sets are fantastic, and the textures are great even for super close-ups. I definitely recommend them. I often use his textures on other products as well, and they have helped transform some older products that I never used and helped them meld into FB's sets seamlessly.

FlipMode's Easy Environments are also very good -- and provide a big and versatile environment in which you can place other props such as buildings and so on. I have almost all of those too.

Merlin's Tree Bundle provides a great variety of trees in various seasons, and they render very nicely.

There are also a great variety of vegetation in the PC club, if you're a member -- though I'd wait till the anniversary sale to pick them just in case there are some great deals on them. I think Petipet has a Seascapes product in the PC that will work beautifully for ocean scenes. It has a temple and an island, but both are removable. :)

If not a PC member (or even if you are), then Predatron's vegetation varieties are great, and should cover just about every type you might need -- Unless you want to do an African render, in which case Alexandro_AM has an African village set that includes the landscape and some trees native to the region (that no one else has ever created AFAIK, except maybe Xfrog).

Check out ArtCollaborations as well for environments. They also support Poser with their own products and those they do for DAZ Os.

I wanted to post a thank you to the people who gave me suggestions for the landscapes. I had to pare down the list in a panic last night to get in under the wire but ended up with this and that such as Merlin tress, a Pred pack of weeds, First Bastion's morphing plain, Oreste bushes. I already had a couple of Flipmode scenes which I played with and put a nice scene together which helped me to decide what I really needed. Also downloaded The Hills which someone suggested.

Should also like to thank all the talented PA artists who contribute with their wonderful products! Had a lot of fun searching through the virtual store shelves!

Carrara terrains export well too as obj btw, shaders not so much even if you have inagoni baker.
But you can use DS shaders on them, lots of nice ones in PClub cheap.
