Texture issue when applying stripes with Photoshop

Hi guys,
I am currently building own textures, but encountered an issue I am not able to solve. Maybe someone of you had similar issues before.
This is a texture I have created from scratch, basically a kind of fabric.
When I apply stripes in Photoshop to it (tried different methods like "normal", "multiply" and others), some strange artifacts show up in close-up close to the stripes which are not there when the stripe is removed.
Does anybody know where this is coming from and how to solve it?
Thanks!
