Debate: Creature Creator for Genesis or for G2?

Hi All,

I have Creature Creator for V4 with add ons, but am looking to take advantage of this week's discount to pick up a Genesis or G2 version for male creatures. I would appreciate people's input on whether to get the Genesis or Genesis 2 version. Presently, I am not an early adopter of Genesis 2 as I bought into the excitement about Genesis being a multi-sexual model with infinite possibilities. So adding a creature to the gene pool has a certain attraction. Most of my stuff is Generation 4 but I do have a modest collection of genesis stuff. I'm not really looking to catch the Genesis 2 wave, but admittedly I am still not familiar with it's benefits.

If you haven't bought into it yet, there's obviously no NEED to do now. Stay with the great versatility Genesis offers, skip Gen2 and wait for the next generation to burn your money on - it probably isn't too far away. Specifically for creatures it's nice to have the option of male/female ones, that Gen2 creatures often just don't offer (at least not without additional purchases, if at all). Just my personal opinion though.

I like both Genesis generations (G2F more than G2M; G2F is just excellent), but when it comes to creatures, monsters etc, I would still recommend Genesis. I didn't try the Creature Creators for G2, but it seems to me that the G1 version offers more versatility - and saves money.

It depends on what you're trying to achieve. If you're doing just creatures, then G1 would work for you. However if you're making humans, then hands down G2. G1 simply does not have the believability of humans in shapes, expressions or eyes. The G2 also has the advantage of having the HD sculpts, which are far more detailed than the G1 version.

I would go with Genesis as it is, in my humble opinion, better when morphing creatures. If you have GenX2 with Gen2F and Gen2M Addon, you could transfer those morphs.

Thank you all for your thoughtful responses. I was going to opt for the Genesis version for the versatility it offers, particularly given I already have other Genesis gene pool content; but I cannot find add ons for the Genesis version? Did they not make any? :long:

No, just the head and body morphs.

Going back to my previous comment, adding these details to humans are better supported in G2 than G1 because of how the humans look overall. If you're just making non-human, creatures, then g1 would work for you.

The HD morphs for humans convinced me to go full out for Genesis 2 some time ago (and I'm a Poser user, so Gen 2 must be worth using, right? ;)).

Let me say, the HD morphs for Creatures are truly a work of art. (As are the Aging morphs, which far exceed the Aging morphs for Genesis 1).

Don't get me wrong. I still love Genesis for many uses. But Gen 2 expands the repertoire for detailed closeups immensely.

Don't forget that you can also transfer the Genesis 1 CC morphs to G2, the G2F CC morphs to G2M, etc, using GenX2. I splurged on the G2F CC sets when they first came out, but there's so little difference between the G2F and G2M sets that I've yet to find a need to buy the latter.

Is GenX2 considerably better than the Transfer utility included in DS4?

As someone who's using creature-related stuff a lot, the HD component wins out vastly, for me. The only down side is that you effectively have to pay twice for both genders, but if you can do so, the sheer quality is well worth it. Sickleyield's/Fuseling's creature pre-sets are seriously amazing products, too!

The only thing I lament is that there are hardly any relevant skins for the G1 or G1 versions. Especially G2's add-on tail, which you're forced to have as furry. If you need a non-furry tail for Genesis 2 without anything on the end of it, you're in trouble! Sadly, the wonderful Easy Tail for Genesis 1 won't work if you put it on Genesis 2.
