Stocking pokethrough - Need assistance

Hi guys,

I've looked through different topics and have been messing with this for an hour with no success. I have a Genesis (1) figure, with genesis pantyhose and genesis shoes, as you can see in pic. I can't get the stocking to not poke through unless I start playing with the scale.
I've made a bit a progress, but now I'm stuck.
So far:
- I have added smoothing modifier to shoes and set the collision to stockings instead of genesis
- I have reduce the scale to 50% on the toes of the stocking which is the result you see
- I have tried the auto-pose that comes with the shoes (which I normally) do and I have tried to manually set the pose myself and adjust the toes
- I have tried adding shoes and stocking in different order
- I've tried messing with dials on different body parts of the stockings and shoes
- I've tried scaling shoes bigger which "sort of" fixes the problem but make the shoe look bigger than it should

Other than getting into more complicated editing, I'm not sure what else to do.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Have you tried setting the collision item for the shoe to "stocking" rather than the character?

    Already did.

Ah, sorry, I missed that. The problem also shows up during render?

    Yes, unfortunately it does.

Does the stocking have displacement turned on? That can cause the mesh to poke through when rendered.

No displacement is not turned on.

Maybe try creating a geometry shell for the stockings, make it slightly offset (bigger) and collide the shoes with the geometry shell instead of the stockings.
Edit to add: Do the shoes have any morphs like "fit over stockings'?

Just tried with geometry shell. Doesn't work as well. All it does is make the shoe more distorted. No, the shoes don't have any morph for stockings, just for different bends which don't help.

I've managed to get the stockings to wrap by playing with scale, bend, twist and side-side dials on the toes (see pic),, but still have a little bit of poke through near the heal of the foot which I can't seem to fix.

I don't know what product(s) you are working with, but I know this product has a stocking fit morph for the shoes. If you give up, you might try that one instead. It is a similar style. You can hide the buckle and studs.

See if the stockings have a morph that makes them overall larger, usually it's called Expand All, but could be something else. If it does dial it negative (turn off limits on that dial if you have to) make sure the stockings are set to collide with Genesis, dial it down so you're getting a fair bit of pokethrough on the legs before you let go of the dial. The smoothing/collision should pop the stocking out of the skin but they will be a lot closer to the legs and feet then they were by default. If you don't have a morph like that in the stockings then make your own, so to speak.. Select genesis, dial the real world "body size" morph to 100%, let go of the slider, then dial it back to zero. Select the stockings and look under actor in the parameters tab and you should be able to find your auto generated FBMBodySize morph. Dial it negative like in the previous instructions.

If you still have a bit of poke through do the same with the shoes but dial the ExpandAll or FBMBodySize morph slightly larger instead.

Unfortunately, the stockings or the shoes do not have a morph like that. I have worked with G2F shoes (and V4) that do, but 2 different shoes that I've tried don't.

Either you're missing some steps, or I'm doing something wrong. I assume your morph you're referring to is the "Body Volume" one under Actor -> Universal -> Real World. That dial goes to 1.0 (same as 100 afaik). I dialed it to 1.0, let go, then dialed it back to 0. No more got generated under the Stockings. I don't see a new "Actor" section under parameters.

    Is there something I'm missing?

Yes, that's the morph.. (1 = 100%) it's called different for G2, I haven't used G1 for a while. If it's not showing up turn on show hidden properties, it's in the little corner pull down on the parameters tab.. and make sure you're looking parameters and not shaping, it won't be in shaping. If that still doesn't show up then leave the morph in Genesis at a really low value, like 0.01, then it should definitely be there.

I finally got a chance to use your suggestion. It worked perfectly! thank you very much! I had no idea there were so many hidden properties I could play with. Much appreciated.
