Is there a way to have objects follow others in animation without parenting?

I'm trying out animation and I'm making a dancing scene. It would be great to be able to have one person's hand follow the others so I can move only one and have them both be in the proper position.

You can't even use parenting, actually — it doesn't work to attach part of a figure to part of another figure. The only alternative, I think, is to animate each one individually so that their hands just happen to be going through the same motions.

I am pretty sure Animate 2 handles it with the Animate 2 Constraints panel. (To include picking up something in the middle of the animation.)

Ah, OK. I've played around with Animate2, but haven't really gone into it in any detail yet.

Yeah sorry, that/ was the point I was trying to make. I know you can't parent figure parts to each other, so I was looking for another option!
