Anyone into the mantaflow type stuff?
I been trying to follow some tutorials, not sure what is up. I simulate a fire and cache it in VDB. Make new project, import VDB as volume. The tutorials I am finding, it looks like it is baking one big VDB sequence with all the variables, but my bakes are like seperating out each variable. Fuel, flame, temp, velocity etc are all getting their own vdb sequence. And when I try to get the volume to mesh to work with them, it does not animate at all. In the "grid name", the only thing that will work seems to be a single frame at a time. For example every frame on my flame VDB, is showing up as flame_s001 flame_s001 etc etc. I tried using flame, and flame_s and it shows an error and does nothing. Only typing a specific flame works. Anyone know anything about all this jazz?
Oh, on another note, if you keep crashing while trying to bake pyro, try the bake on the LTS blender. That worked for me. Fluids bake no problem on 2.92, but pyro always makes blender just close in the middle of baking. Not coming anywhere close to maxing my 48GB RAM.

Both final and modular seem to bake it the same way. Maybe try it from another angle, make the VDB in houdini then see what happens. Trying to figure out a way to make fire meshes that I can import into DS in case anyone is wondering WTF I am doing lol. Ugh, now I remember why I jumped out of houdini and into blender. Baking sims is soooooo slooooooow in houdini.
it works for me with 3 of the 6 free sample VDBs from Embergen but not the other two
I even exported the resulting obj series but they were way too highpoly for my use when I can just use the VDBs instead in Carrara Octane.
I believe they work in FLUIDOS for DAZ studio too
in Blender you would be better off using the particles anyway
