on mac yosemite - adding content to DS

Hi, this has been a problem for me as long as I have had DS on my computers ie many previous operating systems and versions of DS too.
I try to add content but it only sees my main computer, and I can't seem to pick which of my many external hard drives I want to be searched. I only have my content in one folder really which contains multiple runtimes and is on an external HD.
In the screen caps below you will see the things I see when I try and that little check mark in the box does not have any field next to it where I can type or add or change anything, and I never get presented with a list of my drives.

    can you believe it, the moment I posted I found the answer. In the picture near the little / symbol is an invisible box that expands when one types text into it, and I can manually type in the path for the folder I want searched.
    Ha, i can't believe I actually found that on my own.
