Creating a prop parameter to drive other parameters

pcicconepciccone Posts: 661

Hi.
In Studio I would like to create a new property for a prop that sets the X and Y scale of the prop.
Is it possible? If so, can anybody explain the steps involved?

Thanks in advance.

Set the scale sliders you want controlled, in the ratio you want them, and right-click on the Parameters pane and select Edit mode; right-click again and select Create New Property, give it a name and so on, and set it to 1; right-click on the new property slider and select ERC Freeze..., double-check that you new property is set as the controller and that the scale properties are checked in the list of properties to control, assuming all is well click Accept. Make sure it works, then save as a Morph Asset.

    Hi Richard.
Thank you for the help. Boy that is a lot of actions for something so little.
OK, almost there. First, just for the people reading thins, it's also necessary to uncheck the "Additional options" checkboxes or the prop will be reset in the 0,0,0 position and the origin will be moved to that point as well.

The morph kinda works except that it works in the opposite way. When it's set to 1 the prop goes back to the initial state and when the property is set to 0 it applies the modifications. Any help will be appreciated, this is becoming a huge "time suck" :)

Ah, because scale is non-zero based. Sorry. OK, you'd need to create a manual ERC link to a new, hidden property that was locked at a value of 1, then link the new, visible property so it subtracts from that. That means finding the scales in the Property Hierarchy pane and dragging the control properties in from Parameters (in Edit mode). So if you wanted to scale the prop down to 50% x, 25% you'd have something like this (picture when I've set it up).

OK, picture just shows the setup for the X Scale - you'd need a similar arrangement for the Z, with -.75 as the scalar for the user control.

    Hi Richard.
Hmm, I'm not sure I understood your explanation. I was able to do it anyway by leaving the Additional Options on and then re-setting the origin. Studio is simple to use but this aspect of it is overly complicated. To do the same in Poser it takes 30 seconds and it's just point and click. I'm not saying this to criticize, it's just a suggestion that this part of the UI could be a lot simpler. Even the term 'ERC' is cryptic for most users. The ERC stuff is very powerful but making some small changes is quite challenging.

    Thank you anyway.
