So my old desktop died earlier this year. I replaced it with a Toshiba laptop. After a brief period of effective use, the laptop screen is not enabling upon opening the lid. It seems that the lid is slightly off and not putting enough pressure on the connector. It will work if I keep a finger there.
Calling Toshiba today. - I leave for a 10-day trip tomorrow.

That stinks. The Toshiba laptops are usually pretty decent in terms of quality. Can you attach it to an external monitor and disable all the energy saving functions as a temporary workaround?
It turns out the problem has to do with a loose cable. It is still under warranty. Ship it to them. They will ship it back. Thanks for the advice though. That would have been a good interim solution.
Swing on by, you can borrow my 18.4" laptop until that one comes back. It has Carrara 8.5 Pro, Hexagon, DS 7 Pro, Howler 9.5, Bryce 7 Pro, PaintShop Pro, Video Studio Pro, Sony Vegas Home Platinum, Sound Forge, DVD Architect, Dragon Age, and Neverwinter Nights Diamond. Should get you by for the time being. Oh... and it has a whole slew of DAZ 3D content! ;)
