Looking for a completely hairless M4 texture for my Barsoomian character. But all of the m4 textures I have have leg and armpit hair.

Leads?

Thank you. So the smooth setting includes the arms, legs, and pits? If I am reading the promo right, I could even use any v4 character (morphs or textures) on m4. Is there sister product like this; that allows me to use m4 characters on v4?

No products needed; textures and morphs can be shared between all 4th gen figures (M4, V4, K4 etc) . I have a freebie and some tutorials on the subject, check signature for link. The tutorials are a bit outdated and the morph freebie hasn't been tested in ages.

    DS or Poser?

I'm all about freebies, when available, lol. Working in DS 4.6.

The blog thing is in dire need of updating, but here be a couple of relevant links:

    http://araneldon.blogspot.fi/2010/11/using-textures-made-for-victoria-4-on_25.html
    http://www.sharecg.com/v/45885/browse/Poser/Mix-K4M4V4-morphs

The latter enables morphs to be shared between the various 4th gen figures. Feel free to ask if you need help using it or something doesn't work.

Edit: Also I think there's an easier way to use V4 textures on M4 (and vice versa) but I can't remember exactly what it is. It's been such a long time. I'd try and figure it out but don't have DS installed right now.

Trying to dl the uv mapper classic, but all it's giving me is a graphic. What am I doing wrong?

There are a couple of male sets for V4 like http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-gw1-4-male-bundle Of course, almost all of those have a lot of body hair as a way of butching V4 up. The nice thing about the M4 Enhanced set are that there are several variations, including using the male face on the female body. And since it's actually an M4 mat, there's not as much tweaking of things required.

Really, the best solution is to move over to Genesis where there are dozens of skins that can work interchangeability on male and female characters, but for a click of the button solution for Gen 4, M4E is one of the simplest.

Edit - And btw, M4E is in the 80% off sale that ends today.

Hold on, there may be a much easier way that doesn't involve UVMapper. I'm looking into it.

    Edit, found it:

    1) Load M4 (or V4, K4)
    2) Select the figure
    3) Edit menu -> Object -> Geometry -> Load UV Set
    4) If you want to use V4 textures on M4, use the V4 geometry
    5) Name the UV set

Now you can change the UV set (Surfaces tab) to whatever you just loaded.

    Did this help?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's just the geometry with UVs swapped. You get exactly the same result with the procedure I gave above.

Probably, but I use that one, is easier.

There's also a link on the ShareCG page that has a fairly easy to follow procedure using only free tools.

One thing to watch out for using V4 textures on a male body is when the texture has "baked in" highlights, particularly under the breasts. You'll get these unsightly crescents on the male chest. Use a texture that is fairly plain in that area.

    Thanks, guys :D

While I'm at it ... I use perfect V4 for all of my females, which if you are not familiar with Xameva and meipe's product, fixes a lot of the bend problems v4 had.

However, they never created a similar m4 set of morphs, and don't know if they even plan to. I have i13's overhaul, but it doesn't quite work the same way.

My point is, lol, is there a product that allows me to use any m4 character of v4, so I can use my pv4 fixes on my male characters?

How do I find the desired UV set to load?

The UV set is loaded from the figure geometry. If for example you wanted M4's UVs on V4 or K4, you would locate
    ../Runtime/Geometries/DAZPeople/blMilMan_m4b.obj
