So I read up on how to fit Gen3 and Gen4 to Genesis 2, but I haven't found anywhere how to fit the classic Gen2 clothes to Genesis and Genesis 2.

So how would it go?

I doubt it is supported since it is so old. You could try the transfer utility. Getting gen 3 and gen 4 support was a miracle in itself when you actually think about how things were before genesis and that you are working with digital mesh.

You need XD4 (crossdresser 4) + M4 and V4 licenses to convert clothes from Generation 2 to Generation 4. XD4 is free but licenses need money.

I have done this. I used Wardrobe Wizard to convert the M2/V2 stuff to M3/V3, and then autofit after that. The result may not be perfect, but it did work. Using cross dresser, as gilikshe said, or clothing convertor (http://www.daz3d.com/clothes-converter-4-0) will also do the tricky bit of getting the clothes from M2/V2 to another shape.
