Daz Studio to Hexagon broken.

WsCGWsCG Posts: 391

As the subject states, I'm completely unable to send a model (Genesis) to Hexagon in order to work on a morph.

The first time I tried, it loaded the model into Hexagon and then immediately crashed the program (Hexagon).

Every attempt since then, it opens Hexagon, but doesn't send anything over. Instead, DazStudio freezes up and crashes.

I'm wanting to learn how to create morphs, but can't so long as this remains an issue.

I'd expect this process would be smooth, considering how core the interaction between tools is to the whole Daz suite. So, what's going wrong here?

Thanks.

There could be a few reasons for this, running out of memory for one. How much RAM do you have?

You could also run Hexagon (without the bridge), and reset your Preferences in there to default, that sometimes helps with Hex crashes.

Hi there, and thank you for the reply!

I have 8 gigs of RAM. I would hope that's not the problem :-/

    As for Hexagon...

I actually haven't changed anything in Hexagon, preference wise. I'm running it as it comes installed.

Also, Hex only crashed the first time I tried to send a model over. I saw the model on-screen, and then the program crashed. Every time since then, Hexagon opens, but nothing is sent over and then it's Daz Studio that crashes. Hexagon continues to work fine.

Just tested something out, and it seems to work fine going the other way, with sending something from Hexagon to DAZ.

I have just tried this myself, and it doesn't work for me either using the new 4.7 version of DAZ Studio.

If I try to send Genesis (or anything else) to Hexagon, Hexagon hangs (not responding) and I have to close it from the Task Manager. If I try again from DS without restarting DS, nothing at all happens. Obviously a bug in the latest 4.7 version, I will report it.

Is that the version that you are using, because it always worked flawlessly in the past for me in the DS 4.6 version and before?

    Okay, quick update.

Turns out that the process *was* working okay... It just takes a lot of time for everything to transfer over and update.

I'm gonna give it another go, just to make sure and see that it's all actually working right.

Okay, so far so good. I guess you just have to let it sit there a while and do its thing.

I'm using the latest version, 4.7, yes.

As I just posted, I got it to successfully send the character over a couple times just now. Maybe I just got lucky, though...?

If it's supposed to happen somehow more smoothly than that (I have no prior experience to base it on), then it may well be something that has to be addressed, or at least looked into.

I got it to work myself now. I reset Hexagon (don't know if that did any good or not), still didn't work, so I opened Hex first, then sent Genesis over, takes about 2 seconds. It then worked after that any time I used it.

A bit strange, but at least it works for now.

Thank you JimmyC_2009. That helped me too. Maybe there is another thing I noticed on my laptop.
If you own a laptop which normaly has to graphic adapters, one intel on-board and a additionaly NVIDIA graphic card than it seems that Hexagon is using the on-board intel graphic card as default.
When DAZ3D is working on the NVIDIA and you send your model to Hexagon which is using the intel, that may cause the problem.
I think it is a good idea to bind Hexagon fixed to the NVIDIA to avoid problems. And it speeds up Hexagon a bit.
