speed of viewport viewing

hi :-)

i have a big scene with multiple characters, and moving the camera, changing poses etc are much slowed down (everything feels heavy). i assume that's quite normal on my system, but i was wondering: should it go faster if change to wireframe or some of the other viewings (anything than the default texture shaded option)? because i would assume it might, but it doesn't. Cartoon shaded is even slower than texture shaded.

thanks
james

Yes, that's correct. Anything that involves less calculation on the redraw will be more responsive.

The fastest being the 'Bounding Box' views. Then you can switch back to a more detailed view to do accurate posing.

But you should have a look at the new Scene Navigator tools in the latest version.
You can set a higher speed in there without having to switch the views.

so what does it mean when it makes no difference at all? anything else that's slowing down my viewing?

Do you have the Aux Viewport tab open and IPR turned on? I've seen that cause a slow down in the viewport operation, too.

That's a very correct observation Barbult, the IPR do render and do chew CPU so if not using it, stop it.

Same thing for me this morning, yet, no aux viewport was opened. So I suddenly had a doubt and : you may have the aux viewport closed, and yet the IPR can remain ON, and keep on calculating.
In case of doubt, just open the aux viewport and check IPR is OFF (if you don't need it).
