I would like to simulate scenes like the one pictured below from Predators. A sky that depicts an alien background. How would you guys recommend making a scene like this or are there any alien skydome packages or alien sky packages out there?

A colored sky is not enough. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

PS: I use DS2.3.

That looks like something one could render in Carrara certainly and most likely Bryce too but I am not familiar enough with Bryce to say how.
In Carrara there are planets of the solar system textures for spheres and volumetric clouds and I suspect Bryce has similar features both do spherical renders you can texture spheres as backgrounds with or use on Uberenvironment spheres or DimensionTheory's sets.

Take any colorful sunset or sunrise skydome, go to Photoshop or Gimp, boost the saturation and shift the hue a bit.

Grab Jupiter, Uranus, and some Jovian moon texture maps from NASA. They're free and very high resolution. Wrap them around spheres. Drop them into your sky.

    Render in DS or Poser.
