Reverse Paramater Direction?

dodgerrecordsdodgerrecords Posts: 123

Hello everyone, I have created a morph for my cigarette pack prop that swings the lid open. Right now the value that opens the lid is -180, but I don't want people to have to drag the bar left in order to open the lid, it seems counter intuitive. Is there a way to reverse the values? Right now the Parameter called Lid Open is just linked to XRotate on the lid, so I was wondering if there is a way to reverse the values that come from the Open Lid paramater, so that if I have 180 on the Lid Paramater, it sends -180 to the XRotate, any ideas? Thanks!

Poser or DAZ Studio? You can do what you want by reversing the sign on the scalar value, presumably from 1 to -1 - in DS put the Parameters pane into Edit mode (right-click>Edit Mode), find the controller, right-click on it and select Show In Property Hierarchy. Then in the Property Hierarchy pane, under your morph, expand Sub-Components>First Stage>Rotation property>Attributes, click on the Scalar value and edit it.

This actually happens all the time, e.g. a room or building with double doors rigged separately — since the doors open by rotating in opposite directions, the open dials also move in opposite directions. I wouldn't worry too much about it, if I were you.

Thanks for the tips guys that helps alot! How come daz will not let me save this as a prop? I have this exactly how I want it but it is saying I need weight maps, which is totally unnecessary, its a box! Do I have to pose it with a person and then save it?

To save as an asset you do need to use the TriAx rigging system, Legacy rigging isn't supported even if it works for the item. You could export a CR2, then apply materials separately (note that the OBJ would then need to be Poser scale).
