I'm a poser user. this imports into poser okay using the DSON loader script by D3D. Looks useable. I would love those escalators. they look really cool. I was wondering if the addons are available yet.
Love esther
Expansion of the shopping mall would be such a gargantuan task that it would need to be a labour of love rather than of commerce, like a We Are the World project where the stars come in and agree to do a shop each. Of course, if you got Stonemason involved, then everyone would have to go a little further than their usual. Fully modeled and designed fictional store/chain logo/signs would be essential to creating the illusion. My candidates, in no particular order, are:
Jack Tomalin
Stonemason
Mely3D
ForbiddenWhispers
Polish
esha
Predatron
Digitallab3D
The Antfarm
KindredArts
Tesla3dCorp
Of course, this may just be a dream, but if it were given awhile for completion, we might have a really nice mall.
I actually fitted it all out with models from CGAxis I got on sale various Mall fixtures and shops
Yeah absolute, on Page 1 die the PA wrote that he is working on a food store, but there is never one released, its so far I know the only shopping mall out, but all the stores are empty, that... is just a dead Mall :(
@Loony I'm nearly finished filling the mall with various stores from daz3d, Renderosity, & TurboSquid (2 and an escalator). To my delight, many of the stores fit into the slots almost perfectly, although I did have to do some serious geometry editing to the Jewelry Store.
And since 1stBastion made each stall's ceiling/walls a separate piece, I was able to remove them where needed. I also had to use the geometry editor to eliminate some of the columns in cases where stores needed more room for their front. I grabbed store logos from several different AntFarm kits, and I made a couple using text props and Font-to-Mesh Convertor.
I've done some test renders, but I still have three more storefronts to go at the far end of the mall. I merged all the other sets in whole, without discarding any walls except the front one, where necessary. I did not do any editing to them other than---for the older sets---I Uber Iray converted them and added emission to the surfaces that should/could be lit. I'm CPU only for awhile; so, I'm not even considering whether this will fit on any GPU. But I'll post some shots next month maybe with some demos.

Another use for the mall in the post-Covid world seems to be changing closed stores into homes/condos. That might be an interesting future project for a PA to offer.
I populated the mall in another program for this video
Might I suggest a video arcade as well? They may seem outdated, but I am pretty sure there are many shopping malls that have a video arcade. I plan on using a video arcade instead of a lingerie store, since I would prefer to make my mall more family-friendly.
Also, I think there should be a men's clothing store as well.
This is a very interesting idea, filling the malls with items. But I'd like to ask, where did the escalator on the video come from? Is it included in the Suburban Shopping Mall package?
I purchased the Hair Salon, Weekend Clothes Shop, FG Ice Cream Parlor, Gadget Store and Jewelry Store sets today while they were marked down significantly. I also purchased the RPublishing Clothing Store Interior, STZ Boutique, The Mall Phone Repair Kiosk, and The Mall IKEO sets.
Will purchase the other DAZ Shop and Renderosity items at a later time, likely when at least one is marked down by at least 50%.
EDIT: Also, I realized that a tanning salon would not be family-friendly, considering that, a few years ago, the Canadian province where i live has banned tanning beds for anyone under 19 years of age. Plus, a massage spa would be deemed questionable as to whether it would be family-friendly or not. I may consider replacing them with a toy store or video game store, and another men's clothing store or maybe a bank. I would have considered a bookstore, but they are disappearing now thanks to eBooks.
Are there any interiors for a men's clothing store, a toy store, and a video game store that I could purchase?
According to the above listed mall items, only four remain to be purchased. I may consider buying them at the end of September. I do already have items for a video arcade and a bank that I could use.
One way to avoid rendering problems with a filled shopping mall is to use node instances as much as possible. Recycle when need be. Your computer will thank you for it.
I do recall having purchased an animated escalator a while back. It was most likely more than a year ago. However, I am not sure if I have it downloaded or added it to my DAZ inventory yet.
Also, regarding store interiors, this morning was definitely the right time to buy the remainder, at least in the Shop - considering there's a huge discount on them today.
Regarding a men's clothing store interior, I did find one on FlatPyramid, but I am not sure if the site is legit, hence my decision not to purchase it yet. I may purchase it if I find out the site is legit.
never heard of it but it is Los Angeles based not some country that can ignore the Digital Millennium copyright act and has a EULA.
if it had been in a Middle East country or Russia I would have seen red flags immediately.
Plus, I don't recall seeing any illegally released copies of stuff from the DAZ Shop on FP. So this might mean that FP may be a legit site.
Regarding problem sites, it could imply that the Middle East and Russia tend to have reputations for crime.
just different laws on what is
For the site to be based in L.A., that could explain the 3D license plate with the California option being sold on that site.
I'm going to see if I can purchase that Men's clothing store interior by the beginning of October.
Would love to see some of those renders. Post them here if you get a chance.
The user who created the men's clothing store interior is 5starsModels on FlatPyramid. I used paypal to purchase the item, but I expected to receive the download links immediately after I confirmed payment on PayPal, just like with the DAZ Shop, TurboSquid and Renderosity. I am told the order was placed, but is pending payment. What is going on?
obviously as much as people complain about the DAZ store, other sites have issues too
nothing we can help with sadly, email them if they don't give you your stuff contact paypal
I have never dealt with that site
@WendyLuvsCatz Thanks for posting the video. You're always up to something new.
@EightiesIsEnough My apologies, I didn't list the video arcade (which I dubbed ARCADIA using a free 3D font that's no longer available) because it was not a full-fledged shop kit but, rather, a bunch of PC+ props thrown into an existing space. I left out Fortune Bank too, which I'm still trying to suss how/where it fits, as well as Boutique/Shop by 3-D-C at Rendo because it was too downmarket, though I did use its store logo. The sheer size and visual attraction of the lingerie shop was the deciding factor for me---I placed it in the huge slot underneath the Cinema. However, the Jewelry Shop may be just as large, albeit less interesting, and you can avoid the geometry edit gymnastics I went through fitting it into a single stall.
I also didn't mention some shopfronts from TurboSquid for menswear and womenswear---both made by NumikDigital for under $10 each (though you would need to ask TurboSquid to convert them to .duf unless you own 3ds Max; Brandon knows how to do it. Others probably won't). Also, planters from Le Village Tree Pack and bitwelder. I'm still auditioning trees and plants.
@FirstBastion I will definitely post here once I can. Thanks for making such a cool set!
Well, you'll be happy to know that I successfully got the mens' clothing store downloaded from FlatPyramid. The trouble is, the payment had to be received before I get the items. I think they do this for security reasons.
But yeah, there's no certainty as to how long it could take to receive an item. Especially in the event that a creator of a certain item could be deceased, just like with the creator of some items at SAV's shop on Renderosity That could explain why I paid for several hairstyles and the payment was never received. I paid money to someone who will never see the payment. Thankfully, the user whom I purchased the men's clothing store interior on FP is not deceased.
But regardless, I may never go back to FP again.
As for FortuneBank, I think there is a way for me to use some of the elements from that set into a shopping mall interior. The set has a counter for customers to fill out deposit or withdrawal slips. With today's trends of banks going paperless, the number of banks in the U.S. that have deposit and withdrawal slips is likely few and far between nowadays (likely a very, very, very small number, or nearly none, if any prevail). Since bank tellers now rely on computers instead of such slips, I think I can add the teller counter (could require some resizing), the seats, and the plants to an empty space in the Suburban mall. Banks normally have offices, but Fortune Bank implies to be just for teller service. I may even attach an ATM or two to a wall as well.
Just found another useful set for a clothing outlet:

!
I had to tend to a sick relative; so, I left SSM (w/o optimising) rendering on my laptop CPU while I was away. One week turned into three, and I returned on the 21st day to find render progress at 22%. I left it overnight, and this is what I got. No Daz figures. Just low poly pipo that I buy whenever they're on sale at other sites. I put the most photographic in the front (except for the guy at the mall map). I threw in a top floor test that I did before I left. Thanks, FB, for the great set. I'll return to it once I get my backlog of work renders out of the way.
Very nice! Nicely populated too. That Fusion store is where I get my cat food. They have fish and chicken.
That looks fantastic. Really vibrant and active. The low poly peeps are looking pretty realistic too.
