Is it possible to lower poly counts prior to exporting files?

I found some discussions talking about decimator tool for lowering poly counts Daz Studio. Is this possible with Carrara, or do I need to export to Daz Studio? I know I will need to lower poly counts (file sizes) prior to migration to iclone.

Yes, you can decimate using Carrara's vertex modeler, however you will most likely collapse any existing shading domains as they are defined by the model builder using the mesh of the figure. Deleting or otherwise removing polygons, etc. by its very nature changes the mesh and the UV coordinates, and negates the shading domains.

From your other thread, I gather you and Wendy are familiar with each other. She uses DAZ 3D content all the time in iClone. I also believe she has exported DAZ content from Carrara to iClone via .fbx, so I would pick her brain about the Carrara/iClone pipeline and how large a mesh behaves.
