Saving "data"
I'm working on a project and I'm a bit stumped, so if anyone knows the answer then please let me know.
When saving something as a scene subset, which is the closest thing that I've found in DS to saving a prop, this process involves saving info into the "data" folder.
I've noticed that a number of people are creating their own customized folder in the 'data' area so that any file they create is exportable for use by others and this is what I'm trying to achieve too.
However, I'm not certain how to go about telling DS which folder to save the 'data' in.
While I'm fairly certain that I could edit the saved file to point to a specialized folder, I'm sure that there must be an easier way; as customizable as DS is then it would seem strange if this were not the case.
So... any thoughts?

Even if you save a Scene subset to a different folder, the data will still be written to the 'data' folder which is in the first folder declared as a DAZ Studio Formats folder in your Content Directory Manager, as far as I know.
I used to do it by creating a new path as the first one in the CDM to an empty folder, save the item, then remove that first reference. I don't know of any easier way to do it, but someone else may be able to help you.
The steps to save a prop or figure asset is:
1. File>Save As>Support Assets>Figure/Prop Assets.
2. Select a folder and enter a file name and click "Save". Tip: Be sure to remember the folder name you saved it to!
3. On the next screen, the "Vendor Name" field will be the name of the folder where the files will be saved in your Data folder. The folder will be created if it doesn't exist.
4. If you are familiar with Metadata, you can change/populate those fields, otherwise click "Accept".
If saving to a DS format content directory then the Data folder in that directory will be used for any auto-created asset files (as with a Scene subset containing newly imported and converted items) and will be the default base path in the options dialogue for saving an asset (though you can change that to any of your DS content directories). The first mapped folder will be used if you save to a location that isn't itself in a mapped content directory.
