what formats to choose for export to iclone or Carrara

Not quite sure what is best

When I download DAZ3d content items what is best format for downloading.

Most of content I plan to either move into Carrara 8.5 or export via the 3DXchange iclone program into iclone.

I am not using the installer, only direct file downloads. Maybe, the installer works with Carrara.
Installers are a pain, IMO. There are dozens of reasons why I prefer not to use them.

There are appear to be several formats for every download content items.

My workflow will usually be direct to 3Dxchange into iclone or direct to Carrara with final export to iclone.

There are probably content items that will not work as well for export to iclone.

There appear to be poser , DS, etc., which is abit mystifying to me since this is my first experience with Daz applications.

THe 3dxchange for iclone is a very functional conversion tool, which competently handles obj and fbx files, and several other formats.
