The Rules For This Months Freebie Challenge are:
1. A minimum of (5) Freebies must be included in your image along with Links to the freebies you have used. For an item to be considered free it must be offered as a freebie for the whole month. The exception to this rule is all Daz Bi-Weekly Freebies will be allowed throughout the entire month in which they are free as well as the month following their release as a freebie (For a total of 2 months). Also, if a freebie is broken down into multiple downloads/links/parts (IE like if the freebie is broken down into 3 zips etc...)it only counts as 1 freebie, not 3.
2. There will be a Maximum of 5 purchased items.
3. Base figures (All Gen 2,3,4, and Genesis 1,2,3) as well as their general morphs packs (Morphs++ and similar) do not count as a purchased item or a freebie and may be used as needed
4.Your Rendered Picture must be a new render and postwork is allowed but you MUST include a before and after Postwork versions of your entry in the Entry Thread.
5. All DAZ 3D Programs are allowed (IE Bryce, Carrara, Daz Studio and Hexagon) plus Poser for the contest.

7. You may enter a Maximum of 4 Entries per month.

Well, the contest is heat in the wild west, ok, you got it. It's certinally wild out there now. So we have a woman crawling across what used to be a lake bed in 120+ degree heat, no rain, no water of any kind, except the bottle she is headed for. Fires raging all around, sparks flying, grass and trees dead or dying. The West of 2021 is here, probably from now on.

Silver Mining in Polite Company
The biggest pull factor for the settlement of the 'Wild West' in the early years was not land, but precious metals. Think of the 1848 gold rush. There were others, many others - the saying 'There's gold in them thar hills' comes from that period and it drove massive economic migration. There are all sorts of ghost towns in California where mining brought people to the area and the town died when the metals were exhausted. The mines were mostly hard rock mines. The rather easier method of mining by panning is only applicable for gold, and the largest value of metal mined in California was silver. The world repository of hard rock mining knowledge in the 19th century was Cornwall, with the Cambourne School of Mines being the centre for knowledge exchange, and a huge number of Cornish miners went on each precious metal rush. My great-grandfather was one, becoming a mine captain (underground manager) in a Johannesburg gold mine during the Boer War after an aborted gold hunting expedition up the Orinoco River in S America.
In the 'Wild West' precious metal rushes many people became employees of mine owners, working for a daily wage which barely covered living expenses in the company town store using the company scrip which was worthless outside the company town. If a miner fell ill, there was no pay unless.. unless the officially unthinkable occurred, and the wife did a day's work in place of her husband. This is documented as happening in the Levant mine in the far west of Cornwall during the 1800's, and if Cornish wives went with their men, the same would have happened wherever they settled. In the Levant mine, the lighting was almost exclusively from candles fitted to the miner's hat with lumps of clay (as seen in the image). Occasional oil lanterns were used, but light and oxygen were in short supply in the Levant mine 2 miles under the sea. Drift mines, like the early levels of silver mines driven in California had the advantage of better air (so better light with more lanterns) and the ability to use barrows. It was impossible to get barrows into some of the deep mines in Cornwall, and the broken rock was carried to the hoist buckets using woven baskets (frequently by the not-officially present children).
By the time mines became really deep in California, the use of 'Man Engines' had been abandoned. 'Man Engine' was the term for a lift system that consisted of a near vertical rod with platforms on it connected to a slow steam engine. The engine made the rod reciprocate up and down by 12ft. At the end of the stroke the person standing on a platform on the rod stepped off the platform onto a fixed ledge and waited half a stroke for the next platform to appear. This worked going up or down. The problem ... The whole lift rod hung off a single highly stressed bolt at the top. And bolts broke. And miners died as the platform rod collapsed the thousands of feet to the bottom.

Well I finally got my render done... whew! So my take on the Wild West? How about a ghost story around a campfire... but is it really just a story??
A Noise in the Dark
Pete was just a young cowhand at the ranch. He had been thrilled to be invited by the trail boss to go on his first real cattle drive… at least until tonight. The noise was one he had never heard before and sent chills down his back. Shaken,he looked to Old Rick for reassurance. Old Rick had been around these parts since he was just a boy and knew everything there was to know. But Pete found no comfort from his friend as he saw even Old Rick looked pale and rattled...

3D Art Freebie Challenge July 2021 "Wild Wild West"
Here's my second entry for this month, same recipe but now with a male character, Yin and Yang you know, balance and poise... In addition, I think Once Upon A Time In The West is one of, if not the best movie of all time, I think Roland The Sharpshooter in Stephen King's The Dark Tower is fantastic and I also found Django Unchained very worthwhile to watch, so plenty of inspiration this month... ; )

Starring: Demarcus
The tale:
Once upon a time in the Wild Wild West... In 1867, Demarcus was forced to serve in the 10th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army, which had the nickname Buffalo Soldiers. Less than a year later, he saved the life of a high-ranking (white) officer kidnapped by his own corrupt people by hitting the perpetrators from an incredible distance. This officer was so grateful and amazed that he managed to hit the bandits at such a great distance that he immediately made Demarcus a free man again. Five years later, he bought his first Winchester Model 1873 and became so accurate and confident in his shooting that he soon became a sought-after bounty hunter with a great reputation...
