Feet Size

And while I'm on the subject of appendage size....

This is kind of an off-the-wall tip, but did you ever notice that your character's feet look a little strange? Maybe too big or something? Or maybe you wanted to get a certain size of feet. Or legs for that matter....

Well, there's a quick and easy way to adjust the feet to real world dimensions, and maybe surprisingly it can make a noticeable difference in how your character looks. Or not, depending on how observant you are on details like that.

Anyway, there is a real world conversion for shoe sizes and actual dimensions in inches. For example, did you know that for a woman with a size 5 shoe, her actual foot is 8.5 inches long? So if you, for example, want to model a character with a size 5 shoe, you just insert a cube or something into your Carrara scene, go to Motion and adjust the Size dimensions of the cube to 0.71 feet, and then use it as a guide to adjust the Feet Size morph for the character until it matches the size of the cube.

Same thing can be done for leg size. Pants typically come in sizes short, medium, and long, and those correspond to leg lengths of 30, 32, and 34 inches. And that's measured from the crotch to the ankle. So if you want some realistic leg lengths, use the same technique to measure the legs on your character, then adjust the Leg Size morph so it's what you want.

It can make a big difference, believe it or not. Seems like you always see characters with the exact same appendage dimensions in 3D renders...this can make your stuff look a bit unique and more realistic.

Seems strange though that there's nothing for arm length....
