Shading Domain, soo confused

i'm making 2 separate shading domains on a cube.

i selected the polys in the left, clicked add, it asks if want to assign current selection to new domain, i click yes
but then when i go to select by domain, nothing

how do you save the selection to the shading domain?

i've done it in the past, dont know if my carrara is broken, or i'm just crazy senile

help, aiuto!

also trying to make both sides cover the same area on the uv grid

should work are you doing the drop down ?

select>select by> select by shading domain

what happens if you go into she shader room - do you see the nes shader , what happens if you make it red as an example?

    yeah, showing diff colors. thanks.
is weird selecting  by domain not working.  oh well

trying to finish the hein wizard render.  keep getting stuck.

uv seems to be working. sort of.  trying to make a corner o f a room out of a cube.  flipped the normals.
one wall renders ok the other doesnt seem catch any light.  never saw anything like it before

sized and saved a light with his wizzie staff. saved it to tray.  but the light resizing didn't keep.

And now carrara is in a state of not responding

    hmm

    that's odd

    time for a reboot?

oddly I had  a character that wouldn't render the other day - whole figure and clothes wouldnt accept any lighting - before that I'd had an error code but I'd saved the file before that - rebooted and fixed it I think

    good luck -

post in the wip thread if you would like more time - no trouble to extend

yep, you may need a reboot of the PC ..

    works fine over here yes

I find after a Carrara crash some things don't work as they should when opening it back up until the PC is rebooted. cool
