Genesis 8 to 8.1 figure converter

I am particularly interested in a male converter 8 to 8.1.

Maybe something I can just get the figure into the scene run a script and convert them after they are in the scene and before I clothe and pose them.

I am wondering if I already have this I have bought so many things and forget I own them.

I have not really thought about what all of the implications of a converter like this would be.

I just know that I gravitate towards only using my 8.1 figures these days and if I could convert the 8 figures I might use them more.

I would like that.

    The possible features for a converter :

    • Convert G8 Character preset
    • Convert Material presets from Iray to PBRSkin shader
    • Convert Torso maps to Head & Body maps
    • Set G8.1 UV

  • Most things do not need converting, assuming you are on a reasonably current version of Daz Studio.

    There's no real beenfit to converting the mapping - that just adds an extra layer of blurring - but there are various utilities that need updating to handle the change in the surface groups.

    Actually I use M8.1/V8.1 PBRSkin material preset and replace the diffuse/normal/bump/SSS translucency maps

    IF SSS maps are not available, I copy the diffuse maps and apply a LIE Additive Blend Layer (Color 25, 29, 39)

    The benefit ? G8.1 LIE material presets (and geoshell/geograft)

  • A GeoShell can have a diffrent UV set from the figure it goes around.
