Ideas on Blob Monster
Hello. I'm interested in making a monster similar to one I read about in a fantasy book--a really horrible thing that's basically a blob-tentacle monster with the faces/appendages of its victims poking out through its skin. The closest thing I've been able to find in store is the slime beast (Slime Beast | Daz 3D) but it's a bit older and I wouldn't know how to update the textures for iray. Any ideas on how to do that? I ran into this post (Will's Freebies - Page 7 - Daz 3D Forums) which mentions making an updated texture set, but I haven't been able to find anything like that. So, if anyone has any ideas on how to update on older model like that or alternatively knows of other good amorphous monsters out there, I'd be happy to hear them!
Thanks for reading!

You have the basic Iray shaders in your D/S content folders. Apply them to the different shading domain/material zones of the figure(s) or prop(s). If you hold down the Ctrl key, an option to "ignore" the textures will appear, select that if you want to keep the texture images already in use. When happy with how it looks, select the root, and save out a material preset(s) so next time all that work can be done with one click :-)
You can use this on a mesh to get your 'faces of victims' look: https://www.daz3d.com/simtenero-shape-reprojector
There's this older 'Blob' model: https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/bcs/the-blob/57935/
Or this newer Gelatinous Cube model: https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/bcs/dungeon-denizens---the-ooze-cube/140567/
Both at rendo.
Or create a high density primitive sphere in DS and use dformers (or mesh grabber if you've got it) to make the shape along with an Iray shader (e.g. https://www.daz3d.com/slime-iray-shaders )
Thank you both so much! This is really helpful. :-D
Wow, that really takes me back! HA.
I do want to make my own slime/ooze creature at some point, but ... I have a list of things I want to do before that.
I'm rather partial to this guy as I've used him in several projects...

Though listed as a Poser product, I can't imagine why it can not import into DS.
